Hello everybody. I'm posting one last time to share the poem I wrote for Max this morning. People who know me, know that I write when someone or something special enters my heart. So it's only fitting that I wrote a poem for my sweet boy Max, whom I miss more than words could ever say. The pain is real, but I tried to put that aside and remember some of the special times Max had with our family. We all loved him and miss him so much.
Max
I remember the day that you came into my heart;
My beautiful little lion, I loved you from the start.
Oh how I loved our morning cuddles, and playful times at night;
Chasing the green ball was a favorite, as your eyes became so bright.
Swishing your orange striped tail and catching a moth in the air,
Made you a champion hunter and for your prey to escape was rare.
You chattered at the birds, then napped in your favorite chair;
I loved waking in the mornings finding you sleeping in my hair.
“Making biscuits” on my blanket as I heard your gentle purr,
Gave me such comfort in stroking your beautiful soft tabby fur.
You always waited for me by the door when I was gone,
But then you greeted me with face licks and nudges when I came home.
Playing “real live tiger” with daddy on the stairs, were other fun times,
And on lazy days you’d sleep by the window, in the warm sunshine.
I miss your sweet face my precious kitty boy;
All the love that you gave me became my greatest joy.
If my love could have healed you, you’d still be with me,
But God needed you in Heaven where you run happy and free.
So my little one, chase the butterflies and have happy dreams,
Think about Mommy as you lay in the warm sunbeams.
l will love and miss you forever, Max my sweet love.
Always know you’re in my heart, as you watch over me from above.
Love always and forever,
Mommy
