This may sound like a really stupid question,
but I was always told by the vets to make sure to feed the cat, wait
20 minutes, then shoot the insulin

I read the insert in PZI last night and it said to feed and shoot at the same time.
what does everyone else do, do you think it matters

I tried last night and his numbers were better than they have been in a couple of days....
he went back down to the blue last night.....

I test, feed and shoot. I normally wait about 15 minutes after eating to shoot---just to be sure everything stays down okay!

Interesting. I tested, then fed, and shot the insulin while Max was eating. He wouldn't notice the shot if he was eating while I did it. Otherwise, it was a game of follow the leader or hide and seek trying to inject the insulin. My vet never mentioned anything about waiting after feeding. Just to make sure the cat ate before the shot, which I did kind of. I made sure Max got some food in him before shooting, but he was still eating. ;-)

I think they tell you to wait to shoot in case the kitty throws up.

I have to admit, at least in the mornings I usually shoot just as he’s finishing eating.

I have a hair clip that goes on his scruff (his kitty handle we call it) and he freezes, I shoot, remove the clip and give scratches and petting while he houses the rest of his food.

Touch wood, I have never seen Asher throw up ever, so I take the chance to get him when I can. In the evenings he usually goes in his bed to take a bath, so I shoot then and it’s maybe 20 mins after eating.

I was told that was important with Vetsulin (faster-acting than PZI), but not so much on PZI. I might follow that if I had a cat who tended to barf, but if that's not the case, I probably wouldn't worry about it. We free-fed, so I never paid any attention to when he ate relative to shot time (unless he wasn't eating well).

tom gets his shot while he is face deep into his food ... but i know he's an eatter.

Thank you so much for the information.
I notice that his numbers go lower (so far) when I shot while he is eating
I guess sinceI dont wait for his numbers to rise after eating he can go lower now
He is a great eater and does not throw up so I guess I dont have to worry

We are surfin the blues tonight!!

Thanks so much!!
