Hello everyone, hope all is well out there!

I dont think shakes is feeling to good.
Last week he started not eating as well as he used to...
I chalked it up to the food...
Yesterday when I raised his insulin, I saw that he did not feel well..
which he usually doesnt when I raise him...but
yesterday it looked like maybe his heart was racing a little, and he just laid and did not move for about an hour or
2, , but then started feeling better later

Today he had diarreahea and the last few times he pooped its has been a really lite, almost whitesh color...
I have a call in to the vet, but does anyone have any ideas...or maybe he just doesnt like the raise in insulin?

Thanks for your help

That doesn't sound right. With the heart rate racing and poo issues, I am wondering about an infection. Have you tried adding a probiotic (like fortiflora) to the food to help the poo issue? Did the vet mention anything about an antibiotic?

Hi Kelly
The vet called and said it could be the pancreas acting up, which happens with diabetic cats (??)
She said to watch him for another day or 2 and if it continues to bring him in.

She said the heart racing she did not think that was realated to the insulin raise and
was unsure about that.

I will be watching him tonight and tomorrow andif it continues I will bring him in.

Thanks

heart racing can be due to a number of things truly. One of mine had his heart race over 200 bpm when he had a bad infection and fever! If it is due to pancreatitis, then I would say it is more due to the pain it causes. You may ask about pain meds.

With people light loose stool is liver problems - blockage, etc. can make you feel ready to toss your cookies, loss of appetite.

I would keep an eye on it but I think a vet visit might be a good idea. It Could be anything, high blood pressure, infection, pain, there is no way to tell without some testing.

Thanks for all the input...
he seems better now, more alert and the heart racing was yesterday
and as far as I know has now happened tonight

He has not had any more diarrehae and has eaten some more...

If this continues I will bring him over the weekend...she did mention anti-boitics if it continues...

thanks so much for all the advice and input..oh and waha tis foteflora??

Fortiflora per Dr Lisa
Try a product called FortiFlora. Most cats LOVE FortiFlora and this has recently become my favorite trick. This is a probiotic made by Purina but you are not going to use it for its probiotic properties. You are just going to use it as a flavor enhancer. The base ingredient in FortiFlora is animal digest - the very substance that makes dry food so very enticing to cats. The directions say to use 1 package/day - and you can use this much if you want to - but this amount is not usually necessary. You may only need ~1/4 of a package - or less - with part mixed into the food and part sprinkled on top of the food just as you would use salt and pepper on your own food.

So it is a probiotic and flavor enhancer. You can sometimes get it from your vet, or the vets at PetSmart or online.
