Shaikha got fasting blood work done today. We are doing an anemia panel to check for regeneration, parasites, etc. He threw in several things he wanted to check. We should get results later this week, so we'll know whether she's regenerating or not and that will help a lot as to treatment. I took in some stool samples and he does think she's losing a small amount of blood in her stool, so we need to figure out a way of managing that. We are considering putting her on tylosin rather than metronidazole to see if that helps any and I'm to keep up the sucralfate too.

He also did a panel to check her kidney and liver function, and we got an unexpected and unwelcome surprise in that one. Her creatinine is slightly higher at 3.2, but what was more alarming is that several of her liver enzymes were elevated markedly, which probably explains her depressed appetite. ALT was actually low (<10, normal 12-130), but ALKP (254, normal 14-111) and GGT (34, normal 0-1) were high, which suggests some sort of bile duct problem. Just what we need! We are starting her on ursodiol to see if that helps. She doesn't show signs of jaundice thankfully but combined with the fact that she's got IBD and pancreatitis it is a concern. She didn't have these elevations last week so the sudden jump is alarming. We plan to retest this next week and hopefully will see a drop.

The one good thing was that her PCV was hanging in there, just under 20%. At least it hasn't crashed more, so the inappetance I'm seeing is likely her liver. If that continues I may switch her from ondansetron to anzemet to see if it helps perk up her appetite some.

I the blink of an eye, it seems that everyone is not feeling well
I hope things improve soon!
Hang in there
