Off to the races! She was a little lower this AM but rising number tests looked good. Shot AMPS about 1/2 hour late just to be certain.

7/16 PMPS = 402, gave 0.6U (got into dry food at +6, but needs more insulin given curves today)
+7.75 = 189 (doing rising number test now...)

7/17 numbers:
AMPS = 193/206, gave 0.6U
+1 = 272 (was curious to see how food impacted her numbers)
+4 = 169 (fed a snack because she was driving me crazy begging for food)
+5.5 = 267 (oops -- likely a food spike)
+7 = 188 (interesting pattern - guess some insulin was still on board to counter the food spike?)
MDPS = 208, gave 0.6U
+2 = 171
+4 = 139
PMPS = 391, gave 0.6U (definitely a bounce! her liver probably doesn't know what to do with these blues today!)
+7 =

I've done a little experiment today to see how food impacts her numbers. When I switched her back to TID, I also changed her food to a lower carb one. It isn't as low carb as some of you feed, but it is one of the two foods I can feed her without upsetting her GI tract. She wasn't eating it as well as I wanted though, so today I switched her back to her normal low residue one (for IBD and pancreatitis cats). It has about 10% more carbs. She was starving all day, I think in part because she hadn't been eating the other food as well. At any rate, you can see from the +1 reading and the one after the snack at +5.5 how it caused what looks like a food spike. We've also not had the issue of her still dropping when it comes time for the next shot. There's not much I can do about what i feed since options are limited, but at least I know that if her numbers are bad, switching to this other food can help there. I'll probably keep her on the low residue food since she's eating it better but both seem to agree with her equally well. I'm just surprised and happy to see her eating canned food. I never thought we'd get to this point! She did for short periods previously, but she wasn't thrilled with it -- it was more a novelty. She still will play games sometimes by not eating it all and going over to her brother's bowl to try to push him out of the way (he eats dry kibble). Unfortunately, he lets her do that and then later complains he has no food left! As much as my civvie Siamese tries to act like an alpha male, he is definitely not! :lol:

Well, she obviously bounced this evening. She hit some nice lower blues today, so I'm sure her liver kicked into action. I shot her normal dose while we get the bounce cleared.

Shaikha scarfed down all the food I gave her, so she ate about a can and a 1/4 today. That's more food than usual for her. She only weighs 8lb, so usually a can is plenty. I'm not sure why she's been so desperate for food today. That can be a sign of IBD. Her numbers haven't been high enough for it to be the diabetes I'd think, and there's been no change in her dose of steroids. I need to weigh her tomorrow again. She's even trying to eat food off my plate and getting up onto things to try to get at food, so something is up with her. She never does that.

Catch you guys tomorrow! I've been talking with myself today on this thread. :)

I would talk with you, but Shaikha and You are too advanced for me!!!

But, I hope the bounce clears and tomorrow is a GREAT day for the two of you!

I know, I feel that way too! You are so much closer to her #s than I am, have more TID experience at this point, plus you know so much about other stuff that goes over my head! Sorry not to post more on your threads!

Hope she is back to herself soon. Though she is skinny, right? So maybe the extra eating will do her good? Bix would eat a lot more when his numbers edged too low. Haven't looked at her SS to see if that could be the case - my recollection was her dose seemed a little low so it seems unlikely, but who knows, maybe TID overlap?

ok I had to peek at the SS!!!! :mrgreen: I don't think she is in liver training - she's had some good blues recently and hasn't bounced, so I don't see why she would start bouncing last night. I don't see where any lows would have fit in to the curve.

Does she eat more when she runs high? Or do you think the high #s might be from eating more? Could be kind of a vicious cycle thing, though I'd certainly let her eat what she wants. Bix usually dropped off eating if he was running high, but I think it's more typical that when they run high they want to eat? Not sure.

Anyhow, hope she is feeling ok and it's not any kind of flareup leading to the higher #s.

Well, she's gained back the weight she'd lost, so I think she's at an okay place right now. I did nudge up her dose and I do think she needed to have it done, but she's really high and rising now. I thought it might be a bounce last night but it looks to me like something else now. I'm going to keep testing tonight to see what happens but she's been really high and at +4 is zooming. I'm afraid we may see a black tonight. Bleah.
