Shaikha seems to be improving. Her appetite is much better, so that is good news. Her glucose levels though seem to be creeping up. When I was at the vet's yesterday, he also looked at her blood under the microscope and said she's got a lot more neutrophils than usual. Since bile duct problems can be triggered by bacteria, I'm wondering whether the lack of lower numbers and rising PS levels are due to infection. She's on two different antibiotics now, but he said she felt warm to him yesterday even though her temp was technically normal. I've thought the same, actually the past day or two. I decided to up her insulin slightly to 0.8U this morning. Will see if that gets her numbers down a little this AM. Have my phone consult this afternoon with the specialist. Will let you know how that goes. If I can at least confirm our treatment plan is on the right track that will make me feel better. Hope you all have a great day! 6/16 PMPS = 263, gave 0.7U
6/17 numbers:
AMPS = 340, gave 0.8U
+5 = 236
MDPS = 313, gave 0.8U
+3.5 = 217
PMPS = 309, gave 0.8U
 
Glad she is feeling better! It may be that as she eats more, she will need more insulin to compensate. But that's a good thing I think.... eating is good!!!!
 
I'm thinking it isn't just the increase in her eating, but also the infection that is causing her numbers to rise, and possibly pancreatic inflammation as well. She acting like she's feeling a little icky in there. If her numbers are in the 300s again in the AM, I'm thinking of increasing her to 0.9U to see if I can get a lower nadir and mid-day number. Will try to catch her nadir tomorrow, but I"m thinking the 200 numbers may actually be the best we are getting right now. It probably will take some tweaking to get her rebalanced.
