Hello All!
Shadow is still sailing smoothly at the falls. She seems to just be a natural 100's kinda girl. Although the last few days, we've seen 90's and
high 80's. She is mostly sleeping in bed ( cooler nights) and has had a few occasions to get up and eat from her second bowl. I give her
a dish when we get in bed, and then just as we turn out the light, I put the second dish on the nightstand too ... in hopes that she'll get
up and eat in the night.
I need her to learn to seek the food and eat it since we will be going to my grandmother/mother's for Christmas and it's less stressful for
her to stay here. I have a teenager who will come twice a day(morning /evening) and put two (or three) bowls of food out for Shadow but will never see Shadow.
We will be gone 6 days. The alternative is to take her with us but she will have to live in a walk in closet the entire time. I would sleep
in there with her so she'd have me at night but she would be miserable in a new location and 13 plus hours each way in the car.
A few days ago , I also cleaned her smart box litter box ( the one they sell here at FDMB) and was going to put it away and realized I like
knowing if she's peeing daily. (don't want any UTI's)
I still don't ever see her drink any water at all. And I saw where Sienne told someone else that elevated Albumin is usually due to dehydration.
She had a high Albumin on her labwork, I add a couple of spoonfuls of water to some of her food but she doesn't like soup consistency so
I don't add a lot. She does like the water from the shrimp thawing out added to foods that she is less interested in.
Yesterday was our follow up to the GI dr after dd's endoscopy.
The endoscopy went well but dd was in pain when she woke up ( from them inflating her esophagus to view ) and she hurt for a couple
of days afterwards which the doctor found odd. He thought she was supersensitive.
He pressed on her abdomen which still has a tender area when he does it. She still has her random achy joints ( wrists, fingers).
He is keeping her on Prilosec until January ( when we see him next) and he ordered more tests which we went and did the lab work
immediately after the appointment.
The endoscopy showed flattened villi in her upper intestine and inflammation.
They took several vials of blood and are running genetic tests to see if she might have Celiac's and also looking for allergies to dairy and
wheat.
The dairy is possible since my mother has problems with dairy off and on during her life, and my grandmother too.
I wonder still about the timing of all this. DD had no problems at all until that wisdom teeth surgery where she got violently ill from
the oxycodone. I have found a couple of articles about trauma events affecting the villi for a period of time but then those people
recover months later and their villi go back to normal.
The symptom that bothers me most with all these things that the doctor is looking into is she doesn't have the most common symptom
which is diarrhea.
But I guess we'll have to go thru the process of eliminating the big common culprits.
They will call us if anything tests positively from the labwork.
Oh, and we gave permission for our DD to date the young man. She has been invited to dinner at his house tonight. She already met
his parents a few weeks ago but they want an evening with her.
I think shes just pleased to be finally allowed to date.... but she sees that they might not sync up with their future plans. He wants to
go to vet school in Colorado ( he can't afford Texas A&M)
He also isn't passionate about any issues although he likes to read. He may be too tepid for her.
She's a big reader and very big pro-life advocate.
She is constantly told by adults of how she isn't meeting her potential ( and she does have a lot ) by becoming a sonagrapher ( ultrasound/
ct scans/ mri's). But she wants job security, a simple life, and the freedom to pursue her real interests in her own time.
She would like to work with pregnant women/ultrasounds and be a spokeperson for pro-life groups in relation to her job/expert witness
type thing.
And the future right now is better served by tradeschool type training than 4 yr degrees. And she can always go back to school if she
decides to and she 'll be able to afford it. Sonographers make good incomes and she can narrow it down later to part time.
