I recently brought Shadow in for a urinalysis followup to check his pH and for proteins in his urine.
I have been feed Dr Peirsons raw formula.
Much to my surprise Shadows pH was 8.0 and struvite crystals and protein was present.
I have since put him back on Hills c/d and supplement with the raw.
His latest urinalysis showed a pH of 6.0, no crystals and most importantly no proteins present. It would appear that his kidneys are functioning properly and have not sustained long term damage from the blockage that occurred in December.

It would appear that at least in Shadows case there is some element missing in Dr Peirsons recipe in regards to controlling pH.
Silky on the other hand is eating the raw with no problems what so ever.
Its all very strange as Shadow lived in the wild for about 2 1/2 years on nothing but what he could catch. He had no bladder problems until I started feeding him the Wellness foods.
You would think that a raw diet would cause acidic urine.
I am only using chicken in the formula. Perhaps it is a difference between rodents and fowl.
Has anybody any ideas?
