I recently brought Shadow in for a urinalysis followup to check his pH and for proteins in his urine.
I have been feed Dr Peirsons raw formula.
Much to my surprise Shadows pH was 8.0 and struvite crystals and protein was present.

I have since put him back on Hills c/d and supplement with the raw.
His latest urinalysis showed a pH of 6.0, no crystals and most importantly no proteins present. It would appear that his kidneys are functioning properly and have not sustained long term damage from the blockage that occurred in December. :):bighug:

It would appear that at least in Shadows case there is some element missing in Dr Peirsons recipe in regards to controlling pH.
Silky on the other hand is eating the raw with no problems what so ever.

Its all very strange as Shadow lived in the wild for about 2 1/2 years on nothing but what he could catch. He had no bladder problems until I started feeding him the Wellness foods.
You would think that a raw diet would cause acidic urine.
I am only using chicken in the formula. Perhaps it is a difference between rodents and fowl.

Has anybody any ideas?

Maybe go to her web site and e-mailing her the info. And each cat is different. The recipe may need adjustment for your particular cat.

Its worth a shot. Spending $1.20 a 2.9oz can for the Hills. My raw is costing me well under a dollar for a 5.5 oz can.

A member on Tanya's site chimed in with a similar problem concerning raw.
She's feeding half and half raw and canned rabbit by Stella & Chewy and her cats pH went up to 7.5.

I dont know how I missed it but I just discovered that the Hills c/d DMA shows 33.3 on the carbs. Outrageous. I might have to bite the bullet and buy the Friskies special diet Chicken bits which appears to have replaced the Sliced Chicken. The Carb DMA bangs in at 16. Its still high. But nowheres near 33.3.
Completely unacceptable.

Ok guys
I bit the bullet and have bought the Friskies special diet.
Shadow dived in with gusto with the cans of Chicken bits in gravy.
This morning I mixed 50/50 the Chicken Bits and Gravy with the Turkey and Giblets dinner. No problens on the first feeding. I may need to add some extra water though.
That should reduce the carb % to around 10 if I am looking at this correctly.
I am still feeding him the raw as well once a day.
The Friskies is 8 cents per oz vs 41 cents for the Hills c/d
I am still leary of the quality of the ingredients in the Friskies.

Hopefully the combination will prove to be effective.

As hoped Shadow has leaned back up since getting him of the Hills.
Have not had a urinalysis done since switching as of yet.
