Won't be giving a shot this morning. I am really starting to feel scared, like I am in a dream and I will wake up any minute to a different reality. So excited, yet so nervous. Gonna keep on praying and thanking God for each day.

She is looking good. Seems like her little pancreas is puttering along. (Anti jinx). Can't remember your feeding pattern, but giving little snacks during the day is thought to help support the pancreas. As you are not giving insulin today, you don't have to worry about her eating in the am before the shot. So you have a little freedom in dividing up the food into smaller segments.

Shaak is rocking it!!!! Come on down girl!!!

Cathie...I really would like for you to try and see what her pancreas is doing. If you can test her three-four hours after you feed her, we can see if it's bringing her BG down. Possible?

Have a great day!

Although Shaak has been doing stellar with no insulin, she's still got diabetic numbers. I'm not sure how you get a cat I to remission if the caregiver never shoots below 150. My concern is that if her pancreas is working a bit now, without insulin support, her newly forming beta cells that see fragile might not be able to handle her needs. I just wonder if we provide a bit more support for her pancreas, if we can get the numbers down into the normal range.

So my thought is to have Cathie, on a day cycle, draw just a tiny bit of insulin and see how it goes. To do this, she would push the plunger in and then insert the needle into the vial and take her finger off the plunger allowing it to draw a drop in by vacuum. I just don't see how she will get into remission without spending some significant time in normal numbers (50-120) sith most of the time below 100.

Marje and Cathie, I know I tend to be cautious. Maybe if Cathie would try a drop in the daytime, when she can monitor and intervene if needed, especially in the early part of the cycle, it would be safe. It is true, Cathie, that she is generally under 150 which is good, but she doesn't drop into the greens very often.

I think you have to be comfortable with the dosing. And be ready to monitor and intervene with food if needed.

well, her NS BG numbers for 3 hours after meal are 96, 106 with two different meters.

I made sure to use plenty of blood. I am still hoping @Marje and Gracie could come over tomorrow or Sunday and us compare the Alpha Trak with the Reli on meters.

Sorry....fell asleep on the couch.

Pretty darn good. Those numbers are much more similar and good normal numbers so it looks like her pancreas is working to some degree.

I should be able to get over sometime this weekend with the AT.

Thanks for your thoughts @Sue and Oliver (GA). Cathie....you have some thinking to do. ;);)

That's why shooting into the 150 range makes me nervous. She drops early and is in the greens fast, without insulin. But just a drop "shouldn't" mean a lot bigger drop than without any insulin.

Cathie, maybe we can think about trying a tiny amount during the day, when you can plan to test at, maybe +1/2/3 and catch the drop, feed her and then keep her surfing along the rest of the cycle. It would be nice to see a surf in the greens rather than the blues if we can do it safely.
