I am happy to say that Nomad has been seven days without any insulin. His numbers have been from 80 to 101 over the past week.I think at this point I can safely use the phrase borderline remission or partial remission. I honestly never thought I would reach this point! I will not say OTJ because I am quite sure Nomad. Will probably need some occasional insulin support in the future. For some reason, I never liked the phrase OTJ anyways. I would have been prefectly OK with Nomad remaining on daily insulin. The most important thing this represents is that Nomad has continued to make progress.

Nomad certainly presented a challenge to me. Each Cat is Different, but I can say Nomad is different than most.He goes hypo in the 60s and get ketones in the 200s. I do plan on continuing to keep testing his BG on a daily basis for the rest of his life. Nomad still has frequent skin infections I have to deal with. Nomad is also very sensitive to any changes in his environment and this will make his BG higher.I need to have some roofing done to my house so that may also temporarily raise his BG.

I definately believe that the diet change and getting his infected teeth removed contributed to his remission. I would have not known about the diet issues and probably would have delayed the dental work if not for this site.

I just wanted to share this news with everybody. It is easy to focus on the problems and sometimes over look the good news!

I am now going to try and get a picture up. I got the picture the right size but it keeps saying my file is too big. Maybe my PC needs some insulin! LOL :-)
