Is Chloe on or off insulin? (Not clear from SS.)

Test again to see if it's a duff reading and if not a duff reading and she's on insulin administer honey/karo/glucose to raise her levels A.S.A.P.

I'm going to test one more time before I give her insulin. How often does one get a wonky test strip? I already called the hospital and said the vet who discharged her didn't know what she was doing.

I use an Alphatrak 2 and in 2½ years I only got 2 or 3 dodgy readings. I don't think that there's any probability figure one can work to. The general principle is to always test again if one gets a BG reading that is out of whack with recent trends. If multiple recheck tests are in the same region as the first questionable result then take action as dictated by the test results. If multiple rechecks are in the same ballpark as other recent data then they are more likely to be giving the right picture (though no guarantees!). If in any doubt, always test again for safety.

Whenever you get a number that seems out of place, it's good to test again. It's most often that there is too little or too much blood on the test strip, or it's not inserted exactly right, or things along those lines.
Thank you. I'll try not to panic if it happens again.
