These nasty collars are about to be banned by the EPA and the FDA. There's a better way and it's never a good idea to put a non-expanding collar on a cat.
The active ingredients are imidacloprid (10%) and flumethrin (4.5%). Imidacloprid, which affects the central nervous system of fleas, is a member of the neonicotinoid class of insecticides; flumethrin, which repels and kills ticks, is in the pyrethroid class.
The collars work but it's a stupid way to get drugs into an animal. Dogs can chew their collars or through grooming get a high dose directly into their GI tract. Having kids in the house makes this all so much worse.
I'd like to thank whoever actually got this issue in front of a congressional subcommittee. You can bet the company's lobby group did everything they could to block it.
Seresto is owned by Elanco and is a division of Eli Lilly and Company.

It's a small world, that company is based out of the small town I live in.
This is good to know. I don't know why anyone would use a collar for there kitty for flea control but I guess alot do unfortunately. My 2 kitty's are inside only so they don't get any kind of flea medicine, it all has poison in it. I told my daughter you can come over but leave the dogs at home. No need to use t if the only place they go is to the vet.

My wife used to have an obnoxious roommate who would bring her cat home to the farm, then back to the 9th floor in downtown Toronto. Not the kind of place you associate with fleas until they're all over you, your bedding and your own cat. Being inside is no guaranty.
And yes, it's poison. When you can get Revolution for cats and dogs it's beyond me why anyone would use this. Not one of my prouder days but many years ago I came within minutes of hanging my own cat. Collars ceased to be cute.
