I did the second curve with the new meter yesterday, a week after the last curve:

9:30 307
9:35 1 unit Lantus
9:40 fed 1 can Fancy Feast classic pate
11:30 210
1:30 40
1:45 48
2:00 50
2:30 fed 1 can Fancy Feast gravy lover
3:00 84
5:00 171
7:00 241
8:30 248
8:35 1/2 unit of Lantus
10:30 264

In 18 months of treating him I have never had a reading below 80 (of course that was with Alphatrak meter). He did not display any signs of being hypo but I ended up giving him a high carb canned food just in case and I then decided to only give him 1/2 unit for his second shot of the day. I tested him this morning at 8:30am before giving him a shot and he was 499 so I gave him 1 unit.

In 18 months of treating him I have never had a reading below 80 (of course that was with Alphatrak meter).

A reading of 80 on the Alphatrak is equivalent to a 50 on a human glucometer. I had both at one time and was doing parallel testing on the exact same blood drop.

Thanks again for everyone's advice. I have been giving him 3/4 unit twice a day and he doesn't seem to be getting too high or low now. 100-300 range on spot checks. I checked ketones last night and on my test strips he was in "small ammount" of ketones area which was the same as the about a week ago. He's long haired and his fur is getting a little matted which happened right before he was originally diagnosed but eating and behavior seem pretty normal right now
