Thank you to all who have posted before about Cats Exclusive and other diabetes-friendly vets in the Seattle area. I've tried calling ones I found searching this message board history (went back to about 2015 and then gave up). Unfortunately none are taking new patients. We recently relocated here, and had a GREAT vet before that helps us navigate diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease and liver issues. Anyone know of a vet in Seattle or Seattle area that handles complex kitty cases well? thanks in advance!

Thanks for the tag @FrostD...good memory!! Wish I had better news though. I don't know any vets taking new patients, either. For our regular vet, I go to North Seattle Vet Clinic up in Northgate (11032 Eighth Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125) and I really like them but last I heard they weren't taking new patients. Definitely worth talking to them and explaining your situation, they're really nice and may make an exception.

For the complicated diabetes stuff, I work with Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle which is an ER in Lynnwood (Dr Polly Peterson) recommended to me by our regular vet. Minnie has had a a few DKAs and hospital visits so I wanted a internal medicine specialist (was working with Blue Pearl after first 3 DKAs and not especially happy with them, and then they shut down in the summer anyway!). I'm pleased with VSC. It was a long wait time for the first appointment though I did get a cancellation. Think I waited about 2 months. They're right off the I5 exit and close to 405.

The other place my own vet suggested for an internist was Animal Medical Center in Shoreline. The only reason I ended up at VSC is because they had an appointment first.

And on a side note, I have been looking for someone to have on reserve for cat care when (ha! more like if) I travel. I was happy to get one of our vet techs to cat sit one weekend, but if you're interested in someone to exchange duties with let me know! I'm located close to the Space Needle. Nothing urgent.

Good luck!!

PS what a beautiful kitty you have!!

Thank you! I will give those places a try! Sally and I are very appreciative of the tips! I'm happy to connect on cat care... we haven't been on vacation for 3 years either! Even if it's just for a short weekend, it would be great to have hope that it's possible! We are near Judkins Park/Mt Baker.

Surprise! North Seattle Vet (in Northgate) IS taking new patients now according to their website, with appointments 30 days out. They aren't diabetes specialists but I'm very happy with them for general care.
