This board has been awesome so hopefully get some experience with what happens during a possible remission.

My Scooter was struggling to regulate on Vetsulin and been on a roller coaster of 600+ preshot since diagnosed in late August 2016. I took advice from Mogs and Linda and switched to Prozinc on January 9 2017 (1.5u) twice a day and the past week has had unbelievable blues and greens.

Last night he was 203 preshot, so he ate 2 cans of FF and an hour later was at 181. His bs actually dropped with no insulin injection. It stayed below 200 to +5 with no insulin and even ate a snack. He snuck in some hard kibble from tje other kitties and it started its rise.

Is this a sign of remission? I gave him 1.5u this morning and +7 flatlining again below 200.

Im happy and confused at the same time.

Whoo-hoo!

Dropping after a meal is a very good sign that the pancreas is waking up! I don't know that you are in remission quite yet-- we like to see a couple weeks of numbers consistently in the greens with only the occasional low blue before we start an OTJ trial, and sounds like you are still getting some high blues. But this is very encouraging!

If you can share your spreadsheet, some of our pros can give you more detailed analysis.

That is definitely encouraging. As his body starts making its own insulin his dosage needs may drop, so be sure to test.

Thanks everyone:)

I will update the SS. It's night and day from the Vetsulin ride he was on from black, red, yellow and some blue within +1 thru +5 then spiked back up. He is hyperT also so he metabolized the insulin too fast.

I am optimistic and hope his good luck trend continues to full remission for a year or more.

He continued his good luck this evening so I reduced him to .75 u and will see how that does.

I use relion meter and popped my other kitties to check accuracy and everyone else was in the high 60's.

I test every am pm and nadir every day and do a 12 hour curve on the weekends.

Thanks again I just wanted to tap everyone's experience here to know the signs to look for if his pancreas was starting to work again.
It has not worked at all since He was diagnosed.

Just had his blood work done and he is in pretty good shape for a 17 yo.

Thanks again, just uploaded his labs too.
