Scooter BG 373 Ugh.

My heart is so very sad to read about Chyna and Rachel. I sure wish we could hug Rachel. What an amazing Momma.


So Scooters update: This morning I noticed his eyes had the drippy stuff in them and I gave him some clindrops and went about my day. At lunch time it dawned on me to check his blood sugar because of his eyes. Sure enough his bg was a little high at 190. For those of you that know our story I will insert here that his blood work a week and a half ago was all normal except his MCV was slightly low at 39.3 FL but his cells were normal. We started to feed him twice as much food that day and he is still stealing human food so his total intake is 2 cans of Friskies or 9 lives pates a day. At lunch time today he took a huge bite of lasagna when my back was turned in fact he took a layer and ran up stairs with it! :roll: It was on the stove and very hot out of the oven. So I am still hoping that is the reason he is now at +10 and 373. His water intake is normal.

So I am sad but as usual hoping you all have insight that I don't have. Any advice is welcomed.

Hi Linda - sorry you are having to visit again with the naughty boy. I'm trying to remember if you ever had him tested for hyperthyroid?

I'd test him tomorrow morning and see what his numbers are like. Neko once dipped into some bread starter and it zoomed her into the 500's. :roll: And was green less than 24 hours later.

I agree with Wendy. Mid let the dust settle on the contraband, check him tomorrow, and think about having him tested for hyperT.....especially if he is losing weight and/or drinking/peeing a lot.

I am so glad you responded before bed. Just tested him and he is 299 so we are coming down. I am praying you are all right. My concern is before he got the contraband he was 190. I have not had his thyroid checked but I will call the vet tomorrow.

Hi there

I too am wondering about hyper-thyroid. . . .
BK was diagnosed a few years ago. They gave him a test called 'free T4' which is separate from the regular bloodwork.

He's a rascal that Scooter is ;-)

just now seeing your post, linda, and i want to offer some support even though it's yesterday's condo. great job checking his BGs when you noticed he was "different."

i see he was down to 172 this afternoon - cheers! maybe it'll take a day for the lasagna effect to go away! this may be a combination of a couple of factors - i wonder if the drippy eyes might be involved too.

i have to say that although it's not good for him, i'm totally snickering at Scooter stealing the lasagna. i can relate - i'm on a restricted diet at the moment, but if someone put lasagna in my reach, i'd probably snitch some too! ;-) :lol: BUT NO MORE, Scooter!

and just to give you a smile . . . see, Scooter - it's YUCKY!
