I just learned that the free feeding I've been doing is not a good idea. So! I'm now going to work towards more controlled feeding so as to get more accurate readings etc for Angel. I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether this plan will work:

(1) no more free feeding on days I'm home. I can do extra tests these days so I can collect good data.
(2) on the 3 (rarely 4) days I need to go to work, I'll free feed for 6-7 hours, but the morning and evening and night tests will be without free feeding.

Re quantities of food, does this sound okay:
--ONE treat after each test (he doesn't like any low carb treats, sadly, but adores the HC treats and so loves being tested, followed by food.
-- Two 3 oz tins of FF classic per day. How should the break up of the feeding be? How many 'meals' and how many 'snacks' a day? And I'm assuming no food for the 8 hours we sleep at night, yes? And do you feed the same meals for both meals and snacks, or different?

Thank you all so much!!!!

I use an auto feeder. Both cycles have the same schedule. PS, +2.5, +4.5, +6.5 and 6-7 freeze dry treats in the last compartment that turns @ +8.5. I feed a little over an oz in each feeding.

Thanks, Lizzie. I'm trying to avoid the autofeeder as we have 3 cats, and one never knows who eats how much :(. It's useful to see the times at which you feed-- so that's basically feeding 8 small meals a day, it looks like. Appreciate your feedback!

We normally open just one post a day. If you have a new question, just change the thread title. I answered your concerns about free feeding (which is OK) in today's other thread here:

Got it. Sorry - and thanks. I actually tried changing the title but didn't know how :(...I found I could 'edit' the content, but not the title. How, please?
So the rule is one post per person per day? Will do.

Go to your first post of the day. To the right hand side is a tiny "Thread Tools" with a little arrow drop down. If you select the arrow, you get an Edit Title selection.

Great! Thanks. So it's okay to change the Title during the day more than once (if necessary). I'll try not to be a maniac :cat:
