Sasha - OTJ so soon?

Hi everyone,

I haven't been here long, and don't know if you remember my original story, but I came here in a panic not too long ago after I gave my girl a MASSIVE insulin overdose (10x the normal amount, twice a day, for six days). She was in the hospital for several days as a result, and while she had a couple of days after she was released where I gave her insulin, pretty soon afterwards her numbers dropped so low I was afraid to shoot. I continued to monitor her, but they were holding steady at a number I wasn't comfortable shooting.

I left her with a friend while I went on vacation, with instructions on how to test for ketones. They stayed negative for the entire duration, and she was happy and eating the entire time I was away. Finally got her home last night, and checked her BG level just a few minutes ago. It's still in the 'normal' range, at 97.

I hardly dare hope... but could this mean she's gone into remission? Is it still too early to tell?

That is just such great news! I do remember your very first post. I also remember seeing it near the top of the board for several days, and being afraid to read the updates, fearing that the news was bad. It is miraculous that your Sasha survived and to hear that her numbers are this low is just so incredible.

Keep an eye on her, and continue testing. I've recently been told that "OTJ" is 2 weeks with no insulin where her BG stays in the "normal" range (60-120 if I remember right), with most readings of the 2-digit variety. My Bob is on day #10...

Even if her numbers climb a little above that level, keep everyone posted. If you get to the "do I or don't I shoot" point that just about everyone gets to when kitty is getting a lot better, post a question out here for advice pre-shooting and from what I've seen, you'll have an answer in no time.

Thanks for the good news!
