Hi-This board was suggested to me and I just joined so I hope I am not overstepping. Thank you for being here! Sara was a favorite pet sit client of mine (in Frederick Maryland), and is a very sweet 8 year old, recently diagnosed with diabetes. Her owner does not want to euthanize this sweet girl, but is not currently up to providing the required treatment prescribed by Sara’s veterinarian (insulin, twice daily). The vet, humane society and I tried to support, but they want to re-home.

I would take her in a minute, but our household, with 5 rescued cats and dogs would be too stressful. She loves to be brushed and will converse with you as you brush her. When I pet sat for her, she would greet me as I entered the house, and walk me to the door when I was leaving. She is great with kids, and has lived with another female cat for several years.

She is strictly indoors, spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Her owner will include Sara’s toys, bowls, insulin and syringes already purchased. If you think you could provide a loving forever home for Sara, please private message me and I can put you in touch with Sara's owner.

Hi Hillary & Maul,
Sara is not mine, so I am new to the situation, but trying to help, to save her. I just started on FB, my web site and this board, getting the word out on Sara's behalf. I will try DCIN! I assume I can just Google for web site. Thank you so much!

It's right after the phone number (Frederick, Maryland). I just added it up top too. Thanks!

 So sad, she may just need a diet change to low carb wet food, a couple of months of insulin and she could go into remission. Of course we don't know the whole story regarding her owners and their decision to let her go... It's just sad.

Yes Dusty. I told her that, having worked for a feline exclusive vet. And they are following vet recommended diet. They just seem too stressed out with the shots. Thank you for your kind thoughts!

Is the vet recommended diet in their budget? Over the counter? Or prescription?

Friskies pates are one of the lowest cost, low carb over the counter foods and work well for diabetic cats.

Um, you might want to remove your phone number and suggest that people send you a PM (private message) instead.

Internet trolls searching the web for this type of personal information. We wouldn't want you to be inundated with crank calls.

Whoopsie! Thank you. True-no good deed goes unpunished! I am trying to help Sara's owner, not cause more grief!

I know Owner was happy that one food was a Fancy Feast she was already feeding. It seems she really wants to re-home. She had mentioned it over the years, and I think the diabetes diagnosis did not help.
