Sara is gone...

my lovely 18 year old best friend died Valentine's Day morning, presumably of her kidney failure.
the week before she had been fading, we kept her at home, warm and comfy, on morphine, with sub Q's to keep her comfy. the vet kept a close eye on her. She had stopped wanting to eat, then I tried giving her food with a syringe, then realised I was forcing her against her preference and mother nature.

She went calmly, was gone when we woke up, peacefully. there is just now a hole in my life, but time will work its magic.

I can't thank everyone here enough, Im sure thanks to you she suffered so much less and lived a few more years with us (and because she lived longer, she even got to be blessed by the Dalai Lama!--which couldn't have happened otherwise! I know I havent been very active; it was too hard and I got too obsessed reading all this data everyday and I needed some space with her to be able to see the kitty again and not the numbers....

I am wondering if there is anyone in Europe who might need supplies? I have her Accu check meter and some BD syringes...

thanks and love to you all,
cynthia

I am so sorry for the loss of your Sara. She did go peacefully at home which sounds like it was a blessing although losing a beloved animal is never easy. It sounds like you did everything you could to make her last days warm and comfortable and she was at home with you.
Again I am so sorry.

(((((((Hugs to you, Cynthia))))))) I am so sorry for your loss
Know that Sara will be waiting for you to join her someday, and in the meantime, she will be happy and running and frisking around feeling well and chasing butterflies at the rainbow bridge.

Cynthia -

My most heartfelt sympathy to you. Loss is never easy, but it appears that Sara had a wonderful life in a loving home. I'm certain she was the fortunate one to have someone love her so much, although I expect you were equally blessed. Our pets provide a remarkable way for us to share the love in our hearts. She will be with you - always! God Bless!

I'm sorry for your loss, but glad that she was able to die peacefully and at home. I'm sure you did the best for her all her life.
I'm sure the void is most apparent now, but I hope good memories will soon fill it.

I like that she met the Dalai Lama. (((((hugs))))) to you, its sad to lose our furbabies. Hope you are doing alright today.

I am so sorry, Cynthia. I hope she had good 18 years. You must have taken very good care of her to reach such an honourable age. Walk with angels, Sara.

Sara indeed is a blessed kitty and you as well. The universe may now well be her mother but not as good a mama as you were. Be well until you meet again

I'm so sorry Sara is gone, Cynthia but 18 is a testament to the love you and she had and the care you gave her. She lived a good life and was happy and when she was ready to go, you let her go gracefully in her own home and bed with the person she loved. What more could anyone ask for? I'm sorry you will miss her so much after such a long time. It will be hard but try to be comforted by the good times.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

thanks everyone for your kind loving wishes and prayers

it means a lot to know that people understand that sometimes your pets are in fact your kids

only today have I been able to start to look at her pictures again

It helps to realize that she wasn't 'mine', but I just got to look after her for awhile;

I still expect her to come walking through my door, though...vacuumed today for the first time ever without worrying or doing tons of protection manouevers.

thanks again everyone,
love
cynthia
