Saoirse must be feeling better, I hope you are too Mogs. Goof has a bladder infection and the liquid anti b's don't work well as he spits most of it out. So now I'm giving him pills and that seems to working better. I bought a pill pusher that uses water, works MUCH better! Goof doesn't like it AT ALL, but it gets the job done.
That piller sounds interesting - where did you get it?

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for your messages. I've not been able to post an update till now because Saoirse, while better than she was, still has a ways to go and I'm afraid if I write anything positive I'll jinx things. It has been a really scary time. I'm still scared, to tell you nothing but the truth. After such a roller coaster I'm extremely worried about my girl all the time. For example she was very good yesterday but tonight she was constipated and threw up when trying to go to the loo. I need to ring the vet about it in the morning. I hope he can pop out to the house to examine her: I really, really don't want her to have the stress of another visit to the practice.

I've managed to get Saoirse back onto a regular insulin dosing schedule again and her BG is currently sitting just above the normal range.

I hope you'll all keep Saoirse in your prayers and thoughts. Sorry I can't write more just now. I'm really scared again. It's so hard having to do all the baby steps to get Saoirse back onto her maintenance regimen because the process is so slow. After all the ups and downs I'm petrified of doing anything for fear of doing something wrong. :(

Sending scritches for all kitties and :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: for all beans.

If a little vomit and some constipation are the worst of your concerns at the moment given everything that you've just gone through, I'd say you're doing pretty darn fantastic :) Continued positive thoughts, get well wishes, and anti-jinx wards!

:facepalm:The constipation and vomiting might be more to stress than anything else now. ;) At least I hope that's all it is, Mogs. :bighug::bighug::bighug: Is Saoirse well enough you can ease up, just a little, on anything that goes into her belly? Sometimes there's a pendulum reaction, as a living body swings back and forth, trying to find 'normal' again, and symptoms might vacillate.. all her gut might need is a little rest from everything, good meds included. A mini-fast, with just enough food to keep her balanced with insulin. It's up to you, since you know Saoirse better than anyone in the world. :)

I'm glad to hear her BG numbers are almost normal..they're certainly way better than they were a week or so ago. And how's Saoirse's eye? Is the swelling down? Or can't you say, since the jinx-monster may be lurking about? If so, just don't say anything...to us, no news will become good news:p There's more than one way to skin a jinx-monster. We are all so anxious for Saoirse and you.

And how are you? Are your 'numbers' more normal?...that is, are you able to get a bit of deep sleep, and enjoy eating something instead of just going through the motions? Is the sun out in your world, there across the pond? We've had abnormally Spring-y weather here in Lower Slobbovia, (also known as Western New York State).....so perhaps it's pleasant for you in The Shire, as well. Get those windows open if the temperature allows, to get fresh air in, and let the bad air demons out! Perhaps that jinx-monster will take a wrong turn and ooze out through the mesh of a window screen, and leave your family alone!

If the weather IS nice, try to get outside for at least ten minutes a day, to get some sunlight into your eyes. Your body clock may be in danger of stalling out, making you tired and anxious. I know if I don't get a bit of sun in my eyes...I become a giant version of a slug..just putting one foot in front of the other is a monumental task. Or... If you have a full spectrum bulb at home, park yourself in front of it for a few minutes each day, about three feet away. You don't need to stare into that light...just read a book for a few minutes, so the light will bounce off the page and be a tiny bit diluted.

You're in everyone's prayers, gifts of light, and healing vines. By now you must be surrounded by so many healing vines that the next gift you'll need is a machete, :Dso you can clear paths to the front door and windows! Here's a couple more hugs to add to all the clutter:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: We all love ya!

Thinking of you and Saoirse. Hope she is feeling a bit less under the weather and able to go to the bathroom a little bit easier. Thank you for always being there for me and Shaak. It means a lot to us. We all have to pray together and I am still praying the Novena as well.

Doesn't feel like it a lot of the time, Tammy. :(

I know how you feel Mogs, I still feel like I let my little Mouse down. But the doc says I did everything I could and more than most people would have. I guess it's just human nature to feel like we should be able to do SOMETHING MORE!

Considering your own problems, I (and everyone else on this board) feel that you've gone "above and beyond" the call of duty. Saoirse is very lucky/blessed to have you for her bean! :bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat:

Dear Mogs,
I've been following this thread and reading about your struggles and I have to say that you've impressed me so much with your dedication to your beloved kitties.
I'm going to continue following it and sending you very positive vines and hopefully supporting you.
Many of wonderful people here have really hard time looking after sick cats and it is very difficult.
My share of troubles with Rocky almost sent me to mental hospital as I have to cope with other problems as well and it feels like the whole world is trying to ground me.
I really feel for you, I hope you've got somebody who could wrap their arms around you and tell you everything is going to be all right.
I am sending prayers and lots of love and hugs.
Please share your struggles with us if it is helping you.
Take care :cat::cat::cat::bighug::bighug::bighug:

PS. Rocky is doing quite well at the moment so I feel better:)

Mogs, you know that I, and everyone else here, are thinking only good thoughts for you and Saoirse. You are doing a great job - Saoirse has made it through all this serious medical turmoil! She may still be recovering, but it sounds like the worse is over. I'll assume her eye is healing now. Her glucose is in better control. All good news! Now please take care of yourself. Eat better. Try to sleep better. Take a few deep breaths. We care about you, too!

Dear Mogs,
I haven't been on the Board in quite a awhile and am just catching up. Wow, you have been thru the wringer lately!! (That may be the understatement of the century.)
Mitz and I are sending tons of healing vines and hugs for all 3 of you.

Mogs...we can only do so much for anything or anyone. We have to remember that we're humans, not gods.
We have to remember that even with all of the knowledge in the world, even those fully trained and with all of the equipment and staff available, they can only do so much too.
Most of all, it's important to remember that a lot of what goes on, in spite of all our research and knowledge, isn't necessarily all in our control.
What is meant to be, will be. What isn't, won't.

I know what it's like to be afraid and not be able to make everything "all better" for someone or a much loved pet.
Sometimes, it's just love and what we *can* do that makes the difference. Waiting is the hardest part. Sometimes, it's pure torture.

One thing is for sure. Saoirse is loved, cared for and you are doing FAR more than a lot of people would do. She's one lucky kitty to have you as her mom.

I know that it gets us down to see our fur babies not well but, I know, with all that's in me, you are doing the very best that you can to help her get well...and, you're doing a beautiful job! Trust in that. Even when you're feeling down, tired, scared, anxious and need some time for yourself or, don't feel that you can do what you think you should do, you ARE doing all that's needed, really and need to pat yourself on the back for your dedication and love for her.

Please know that there's not one of us in here who don't somehow doubt that what we're doing for them is enough. We ALL feel that way. We ALL feel helpless at times and we ALL feel as though we *should* be doing more...even when we've been told that we're doing all that is necessary. We ALL keep thinking..."there must be MORE that I can do!" We have ALL felt...."if only I could....(fill in the blank)" or....."I wish that I could....(fill in the blank)". Most of all, we ALL fear, "losing" our furry children if we don't "do the right things". Every single one of us, understands that. Heck, I panic if my babies don't eat enough in a day even when they're doing everything else ok. LOL

So, bottom line to what I'm saying here, Mogs is.....

LIGHTEN UP ON YOURSELF!!!!!!! GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK FROM THE BEATING YOU'RE GIVING YOURSELF. IT'S NOT ALL UP TO YOU AND NOT ALL IS IN YOUR POWER!!!

Ok, I've said it. Easier said than done but, necessary to not crack up. Heck....I'm put together some days with duct tape! LOL ;)

Vine for you and Saoirse :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::kiss::kiss:

Hi Mogs,

I had to drop by to say hello and let you know I think of you and the kitties often. Did someone say Saoirse had been playing?!?!! Wow, that's awesome!!! I'd love to see a current pic of her someday when you are up to it...I enjoy those a great deal. Saoirse in her little tent and that sweet pic of Lùnasa in her hammock actually made me lol...too cute for words.

Peek-a-Boo had a bath today. I wash him with my WEN hair cleansing conditioner. Sure the heck does nothing outstanding for my hair...so it's his shampoo. This cat absolutely dreads getting his claws clipped, ears cleaned, paws soaked from stepping in his pee clumps...you name it. But he LOVES being submerged in water. Isn't that bizarre?! A blind cat loving a bath...I don't even have to hold him in the wash tub. My mother jokes with me (lovingly, of course) and says he loves water so much because he looks like something that came from a swamp...ha, mom...not funny!!:p

How has the weather been over there? We had some Spring like days last week and I had Peeks outside for a short time. The warm weather also brings out the motorcycles, and it never fails that one will go by when he is out. I carry him around the yard and let him smell the trees and bushes. When he was smelling the bird feeder, he got a sunflower seed hull stuck on his tongue...silly cat.

Hugs to you Mogs :bighug::bighug::bighug: and lots of scritches to the kitties.

Dawn
