Talked to the vet today about Sam's blood work. His thyroid is fine, he was a bit high (glucose wise) but understandable because of the visit, a bit dehydrated, kidneys were good and she wants me to bring him in Friday at 4 for a visit. She will do a urine test that I thought they did last Saturday but they forgot. She said her techs aren't the brightest bunch. Also they send all samples out of office. Then she dropped the big bombshell. She sold her practice! I just couldn't believe it! I get back with the vet I like and she is leaving, I about cried. :YMSIGH: She will be there for another month, maybe still in town but not in practice. ****!
Anyway, she will introduce us to the new vet team, husband and wife, the Oakes. I hope I like them. Lori said that they are on top of feline diabetes, something my old vet is NOT! Her exact words. She also wants to change Sam over to Lantus. She said she's had no real luck with ProZinc. So, hopefully, all will go well. She does still think that Sam has a UTI of some sort.
Well, it sucks that you're losing your vet but sounds like the incoming ones will take good care of you. Hope Sam gets sorted out with the possible UTI.
I love the idea of you switching over to Lantus Sue...but you have got to know that intially and basically thru out it takes more testing.
I switched to Lev and thought I would get away with maybe 3 tests a day...ya know, one mid cycle..but I don't seem to be able to.
You will never know if it's safe to shoot a lower # the same dose (which is what they do) unless you have collected some data. It works sooooo differently it's still hard to wrap my mind around it!
