AMPS 235 SHOT 2.75u

I am reluctant to shave his dose or shoot early. I see what you mean though. I can tell when he's going down as he wants to eat NOW! and he does it when he's going up too.

+6 52

+9.5 412 Wow! Quite a climb! I wonder if he got into something.

PMPS 515 SHOT 2.75u Not as high as I thought but still a 100 point climb.

Hi Sue,
Just to clarify---did you shoot 2or 2.5 this AM? Your SS says 2.5. If I were you, I would do my best to get in some additional tests this cycle, to see just how low he is going. You can't be sure his nadir is at +6. ( of course that is if you are able to be at home during the day.)

Well, I got it wrong on both places. I shot 2.75U Not 2 or 2.5. I don't know what I was thinking. I'll change them both.

That high +9.5 looks reboundy to me. His drops are just so steep it seems highly likely to me that they are causing some rebound and keeping him in a see-saw pattern. I know the greens are nice to see, but I don't think this kind of pattern is sustainable or desirable. Would you be open to trying just 2.6 or even something like 2.7 or 2.65 for a couple cycles and see how it goes? I think if you find that you shave off just a teensy bit and the nadirs are still good, then you could keep shaving off a teensy bit like that and as long as the nadirs stay good you'll feel comfortable with it - and hopefully it will help his PSs come down a bit.

Sue, my Sam had a pretty similar day to this today too and I'm already wondering if he's getting a hair too much insulin. It's such a tough balance, isn't it?

I'm thinking if he is low tomorrow morning I am going to drop him a bit. I think he's rebounding too. Even the DH is alarmed about the steep drops and climbs. I think I will also run it by the vet too, see what she says. I think he's had enough time to see if this dose was working. It's been almost long enough I think. i need to check but I think it's been two weeks on the 2.75U. It will be two weeks tomorrow. Time to call the vet and suggest a change or either dose or insulin. It's damned tough when your patient can't talk. I could tell Sammy was out of sorts with the high BG before his evening shot. He was pretty grumpy, especially when I couldn't get his ear to bleed. confused_cat

I agree - a skinny 2.75 or 2.6 to see if it flattens things out. It is frustrating to get those nice greens and then the bounce. If no luck there, you may need the shed that Lantus and Levemir gives you to flatten things out or, as Joanna suggested, a third shot to avoid those pm highs. That is, divide your dose into thirds and give it 3 times during the cycle. I don't know how that works with your life. (I did notice you did get a yellow amps - wonder what happened there? We would sure like to replicate it.....)
