AMPS 383 shot 2.6U

It is nice to get him down in the greens, it's so odd seeing those low #'s.

+6 64

A bit lower than I'd like but the meter is reading 20% low compared to the vets. I did talk to her at lunch and she said the numbers were wrong on the canned M/d. She said that it was the dry on the chart but I told her it was the canned chart not dry. She talked over me. Anyway, she gave in over the prescription food because I told her that Sam doesn't like it and he doesn't. I'd rather him eat then not. So would she. So, that battle over. ;-) She'd like to see him stay in the blues. Me, higher greens.

PMPS 508

About 20 minutes after his shot Sammy vomited up his meal. :o
He did eat again about 10 minutes later but not much. Concern here????? He also showed interest in human food (chili) but didn't get any. I will feed him again when he comes in from outside.

Sam ate a bit more food, chicken BG (Merricks)

Yeah, this is really nice! I'd still consider backing off a hair more - the nadir isn't even a tiny bit higher on 2.6 than it was on 2.75, which suggests he may need even less. Could be one of those breakthrough's with immediate dose reductions. Hard to say for sure. If you tried say 2.5 and got a nadir above 100, then I'd go back to 2.6 (or 2.75 if needed) on the very next shot.

Of course you don't want to lose ground though with the nice breakthrough - my worry is that the steep drops may be triggering rebound, not liver training rebound, but real rebound, and he could be feeling icky from the roller coaster. If it keeps up like this, and/or if you back off the dose a hair and lose the good nadirs, and can't get to a place with good nadirs and PSs that are more moderate, I'd suggest a different insulin. I don't think you're there yet, right now I think you have great potential for PZI to work really well, but if he ends up in a consistent pattern with these really high PSs and low nadirs, I think you'll have to look at either early shooting, or a longer-acting insulin. Anyhow, just thinking ahead :-D no need to worry too much about all that yet...

He really is getting big drops, Sue. When can you do a curve? It might help you figure out why he has those big swings between nadir and pre shot.

yes it is a steep drop and preferable we don't want that...but is'nt the drop less steep when we consider it was off a high pink and not a 600+ (which is what her meter means by high)
i also would love to see a curve sue, if you find out how he falls and when he rises you may be able to curb the drop with a little food and keep sam a bit more smooth.
you know if he's fallin fast at +2 you can give him a meal...etc.
