Sammy and his newest issue. Pancreatitis?

Hi everyone. Sammy had been doing fairly well, considering he must continue his inhaler Flovent for his asthma. Lately he's lost interest in food, so I've been feeding low carb food with a syringe to continue his insulin. He's been running above 350 for a few days. My newest chart hasn't been uploaded to my signature yet as I switched back to an Alpha 3 monitor instead of a human one and he's been on the Libre3 CG monitor. (my apologies - went back to work at a vet and haven't had time to update his file. He's currently on 5 units of glargine twice a day. I am giving him fluids and was able to get my hands on some Cerenia (of course it's the weekend and my own vet's closed). What else can I do for him until I can take him into work with me on Monday? Thank you for any advice!

If you can get ondansetron that may help as well. You can give in conjunction with Cerenia and it always worked better for Minnie. Have you trried enticing him with foods like baby food, chicken or tuna? You can also try an apetite stimulant but if your cat is nauseated, the apetite stimulant alone won’t work.

Thank you for your advice! I am planning on taking Sammy into the vet's on Monday. I just was able to get my hands on some Cerenia from a friend to get through the weekend. The Cerenia did seem to help him somewhat. I just wish I could do more over the weekend. Always when these things seem to happen! Ack!

Ondansetron is a human med if anyone you know has some, you could try that as well. How many calories you think you’ve been able to give him with the syringe and what’s his weight?

If you think he might have pancreatitis, ask the vet to do a fPL snap or fPL spec test.
The treatment for pancreatitis is subQ fluids (if he is dehydrated) pain meds and antinausea meds.
