It isn't possible to be sure, but this cycle may be a bounce from the blues yesterday, which he may not be used to seeing. Some cats bounce right back up from low numbers at the next preshot; for some the next cycle is just a little higher and flatter. (I am assuming that we are looking at just regular patterns and there is no elephant around as Carl wondered about - in other words, nothing odd that is causing strange patterns.) If I were you, I would just collect the data and after a few cycles, look back and see what patterns you can figure out. We will try to help with that.

I agree with Sue, it could be a little bounce.
It could also be he found some kibble, or a full moon is coming or he saw a birdie out the window and got excited.
