Any number above 50 is safe to shoot if you have the confidence to do so. (We refer to this as BOS -- balls of steel.) The key is if you are going to be able to monitor and have sufficient supplies on hand to steer the curve if you need to do so.

BOS--good analogy :) OK. So then what might be a safe to shoot number if you aren't going to be able to monitor/have sufficient supplies?

I have to get to the store today sometime--I'm about out of strips and it's starting to snow (with more on the way!) so I wouldn't be home all day, to keep a tight reign on his BG's.
good reason for not shooting early again today to get back on schedule! :-D

kat, you're asking a question that's impossible to answer in general terms.
the answer would have to be geared specifically for an individual cat... as well as the circumstances of the individual caretaker during that particular cycle.

oh, maybe a silly question--your answer makes perfect sense--so I guess if that situation comes up where I'm leery to maybe post for help...?

yes, always post for help if you have questions after you have reviewed and think about the information you've already been given... such as in the stickies or in individual posts. seriously, you'll find *most* answers there. no need to clutter up the board with questions when the answers are readily available... since you've been doing this for awhile now.

Right, Jill. I have most of the stickies printed out and kept with his FD kit (I have a little tote for testing supplies, and a thermal mini zipper pouch (kept in the fridge with insulin and needles inside--works great) and a larger tote with food charts, stickies, pens, paper and the little tote all kept in the larger tote)...I use the products I sell!!!
