Hiya, Sadi has a dental 2morro (her 1st ever) will include the works nailbite_smile
They tell me not to feed her after 9pm tonight.. I drop her off in the am between 7:30 & 8..
Do I need to adhere to this or can I feed her up until midnight.. she will beg & cry if left without food that long.

Re: **Question: Sadi Dental 2morro

she needs to be fasted 12 hours - so if you feed her at 12, then they won't be able to do her until 12 and if they want do the dental in the am, you messed with that.

if you can call the office to ask what time do they plan to actually do the dental, then you could feed up to then.

you can give her water and maybe a few treats after the forbidden no eat time - the point of the empty tummy is so there aren't problems with the anesthesia

of course you can bring food with you for after dental, that they can give her

Re: **Question: Sadi Dental 2morro

thank you so much, Hillary.. I appreciate your expertise & will adhere to their timeframe.. just nervous & you know how the kittes are when hungry! ohmygod_smile

Re: **Question: Sadi Dental 2morro

yes I know, but better she be a little hungry, then risk anything with the anesthesia - it's the same with humans - fasting before a procedure. and honestly, it's ok for a cat to feel hunger. sometimes I wonder when they are asking for food, are they really hungry or are they just trained to ask and this is part of the routine. ;-)

hopefully they will take her early and she will have plenty of recovery time and eating time - remember when you bring her home, to limit the amount you feed her this afternoon/evening. anesthesia is still in her system and want to feed small amounts so she doesn't vomit.

good luck with the dental and give us an update.

11:14am & dental done! Dr just called to say teeth & gums were HEALTHY! Tartar cleaned up nicely - one lower molar was loose & so she removed it (with very little effort) then did an xray to make sure no roots were left  coming out of anesthesia now & can be picked up in a few hours!
THANK YOU JESUS & Hillary too!!! dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat

She is home! Has eaten (did not vomit at all), used the litterbox & is only a little wobbly from the anesthesia.. overall excellent & all her blood work came back PURRfect... I couldn't feel more blessed ♥

great news. keep her calm and quiet for the rest of the night, tomorrow she can run around and jump and such.

And great they took her and did her somewhat early!

Thanks, Traci too.. you are right.. I researched this for what felt like forever.. so happy it all turned out well.. I attached this pic.. not bad for a 10 year old cat who has been on canned her entire life! Pic isnt best quality.. she wants me nowhere near her mouth
