She made it through the surgery really well and everything went to plan. The next 24 hours are pretty critical for her, but the surgeon says he thinks she's going to do OK. We'll be visiting her in the morning - she'll be too out of it for a visit tonight and they need to monitor her really closely overnight to make sure she doesn't lose too much fluid and that her electrolytes stay in balance so she's best off not being disturbed...or made hyper...by a visit for the next few hours.

So glad to hear that Rosa made it well through the surgery and that you can rest knowing that the doctors are watching her closely. Sending lots of hugs and continued feel better wishes.

Prayers for a speedy recovery :bighug: :bighug:

Thank you all so much. We are letting her know how many people are sending her prayers, healing thoughts and vines every time we see her. We didn't hear anything overnight which is always good news with an ER vet! We're going to see her really soon so I will report back with an update later today.

We just got back from visiting. :) I know they still have her listed as critical at this point, but apparently she ate the memo about that instead of reading it. She was really excited to see us and seems to be feeling remarkably well, although she did get tired after about an hour. I know a lot of the feeling good is probably because she's still on fentanyl as well as fluids, but she was very active and affectionate for the first part of our visit - we had to keep untangling her and her lines from the furniture and our legs as she wanted to walk around and explore the visiting room. She settled down after a while and finished up laying on the floor with us getting cuddles. And she's eating on her own...they haven't had to persuade her to eat at all. :)

Just had a phone update from the hospital. Rosa is doing really well still. She's been eating loads, which is good because she needs to gain some weight. And her numbers are all good - her potassium is still in normal range and her kidney values are reducing slightly too. They're going to start weaning her off the IV fluids today and, if that goes well, she'll be able to come home tomorrow...a day earlier than their original shortest estimate. :) We'll be going to see her this evening too. :)

I managed to miss all of this and just arrive almost in time for the happy ending when she comes home. I'm so glad that things have worked out for Rosa :joyful:

Hey Rosa, da break out crew is here an da party awaits, we made you a special strawberry daquari - in a bucket - for da trip. Let's celebrate - Vyktor

Not long back from visiting Rosa this evening. She's doing really well. They're weaning her off the fluids gradually, and she was even able to be off them completely for a short time while we visited. They're still hoping she can come home tomorrow, though if she doesn't quite manage to make it off fluids by then, it should be Wednesday for sure. Everyone there is really impressed with her - they're even happy that she's being feisty because it shows that she's fighting to get better quickly. :)
