I promised to keep you all posted!

Thanks to your contributions, I was able to get Rorschach all the help he could use today! He's still in the hospital, probably recovering by now. (I hope)

Dr. Mo has seen this kind of thing in cats and dogs before and she didn't seem all that worried about it being malignant.

Mo says the polyp didn't get past the eardrum (according to xray), and so they were able to just 'de-bulk' it in the ear. I assume that means they scraped it all mostly off. They'll be sending some to the lab to be sure.

While he's under they're doing a full dental and they expect him to lose quite a few teeth. I think that will improve his mood too.

I don't know how hard recovery will be for him at age 15, or if he'll need this done again sometime. I'll ask her about all that later today when I pick him up. But he's a cheery and affectionate sort and I have faith he'll be back to his old clown tricks shortly.

More info when I pick him up later today! Jock is patiently waiting for his closest friend to return.

Again warmest thanks to Rebecca, Venita and all of you!

I'm glad Rorschach is recovering. My GG had ear polyps. They were stable for years but then they got infected. They were surgically removed and he was OK for a while. However, they started growing back and I was unable to control/reduce his BGs even with three units of R insulin. I do not know if the BG problem was related to the polyps.

So glad Rorschach has had the work done and hopefully will be home soon and feeling so much better. Please let us know when vet reports back on lab results.

What great news that Dr. Mo thinks it probably isn't malignant! Give that cute guy some pets from me when you get him home!

Hey he's home! And sulking!

Looks like my money guesses were about right, too, many thanks!

So he'll be on ABs and painkillers AND steroids for some time, but otherwise looks fine. The ear is all still there and looking rather happy. Also they cleaned his teeth and took out a couple.

Dr. Mo will get news back from the lab but doesn't think I should worry about a malignancy. They had to leave a bit of the polyp in because it wasn't at all accessible, but they think I can probably shrink it over time with the topical steroid. There's a chance that he'll be on a small amount of drops from now on, but with any luck won't need another ear-coring.

It is a very good thing we were able to tend to him right away! Thank you all again!

Sounds like good news to me! I think that after what he's been through today he's entitled to a good sulk..... :-D

Feel better soon Rorschach!

He seems quite chipper now, but then the long-acting painkillers and antibiotic shot are both good for another day they said. He'll get more on Wednesday when he comes back to see the vet for his followup.

Thank you Rebecca and everyone!
