PMPS he was 12.3 (221)

Good luck with the vet consult today, Sue
Thank you. I'm mentally preparing myself for the inevitable fight, especially as his PS numbers are lower the past couple of days. I'm shaking as I type this.....

((((((((Sue))))))))

An occasional yellow does not a well-regulated cat make. Try to steer the consult to focus on:

- all the high BGs.

- the number of hours Rom is in double figures on a very significant number of days.

- Rom's average BG (it's approximately 14mmol/L (!) for period from AMPS on 2925/9/16 to AMPS this morning).

- the wide swings and very low nadirs Rom has had on the 1.50IU Caninsulin dose PLUS the bouncing (both would indicate that a Caninsulin dose increase would not help things and would also be dangerous).

- your serious worries about Rom being at risk of developing neuropathy because of his too-high average BG. (Cite your previous experience here.)

I think you have a sound case to argue for a different insulin, Sue.

If you don't get a fair hearing from your own vet, maybe ask about whether you can seek a second opinion (i.e. you get to choose where to go for the second opinion, not your vet).

Rootin' for you in the Shire.
