It's been 11 days since Rocky's torture at the vet's and he came out of it pretty well (which can not be said about my bank account but it's a different story!). No need for painkillers and anti-inflammatory to continue at home, healing really well, eating and behaving as normal.
Now his BG is going down a little and it means normal values /anti-jinx/. Still on a tiny dose on insulin but if it carries on like that I will attempt OTJ trial again.
All I need now is your support and healing vines.
Sending our love to everybody and hugs to those with sick kitties and struggling.

Ruby, and where have you been?!
I hope you have had very nice few days off.
How is little madam Baco?
Hope everything is well with you.:):cat::kiss:

Yeah sorry, i've been MIA again this long weekend!
Had a couple of days off since Thursday untill sunday so I had a long nice weekend. Went to dinner with BF last Saturday, and Sunday to a fleemarket, was really nice!
Now i'm at work (but it's not that busy so I can chat a little bit) ;) and ofcourse tonight I can chat again! The weekends i'm a little MIA because I can do really nice things now outside the house because Baco lets me do that :cat:
She is doing great but not losing weight so I cut her calorie intake to 218 per day (that for a cat that weights 5kilos) she first got food for a cat that weights 5,5kilos but that wasn't doing anything......:( I mean i've done this for months now and she is not coming below the 7kgs. So i'm getting really frustrated with that! I know it should go slow but she hasn't lost any weight since I started (check her ss if you want to see her progress, tab 3)
How are you doing Marlena? :bighug::kiss:

I'm so glad to hear you had lovely time when you had few days off.
Sorry to hear that you are so frustrated with the lack of progress when it comes to Baco's weight loss!
Cats metabolism is completely different to ours so maybe there is something else you can do to slim her down a little.
I think we need to do some research to gain some knowledge on the subject as Rocky still needs to loose weight and drastically cutting down on food and calories did not do much for us. I was quite surprised when he gained 310 grams in a week!

I'm very well, thank you Ruby.
Really looking forward to my mini holidays with my friends at the end of the week.
I was hoping to start OTJ trial this week so my DH wouldn't have to worry about testing and injections but this morning Rocky's BG is suddenly higher (8.4) after nice run of low numbers and of course I don't know the reason! It could be just one off or it could be due to different food I had to give last night in the feeder or my insulin is loosing its potency or neighbour's cat upset him or he ate too much as I've seen some evidence of dead prey in the house so I know he still goes hunting. We had such a good day yesterday and I saw Rocky active in the garden which was nice as oppose to sleeping all the time.
So... I don't know. But at least he is doing pretty well and I'm happy with good regulation. I can certainly see a difference in Rocky's behaviour: he stopped meowing at night and early in the morning and I don't see glassy eyes with dilated pupils any more!
But he keeps licking himself under his tail and it tells me that everything might not be right but we can't find what the problem is.

Take care,
Marlena & Rocky

Well, we can try to research it a bit, don’t you think? Like you said it doesn’t do much for our kitties the cutting off calories/grams so there needs to be another way to slim them down. I will try to research it this week, and I will contact you if I find something usefull.

I’m happy to hear that you are going to enjoy a well-deserved mini holiday with friends, where are you going to?
Glad to hear Rocky seems to be doing better, although he’s still on insulin, but the fact he’s acting like his old self again is also worth something! Well, is your DH going to give in insulin then when you are away for your mini holiday? Or are you still debating about that?

:bighug::kiss:

I'm going to Yorkshire, I have friends there and haven't been there before so it's completely new.
DH is able to give Rocky insulin injections but testing might be a bit problematic so maybe I will decide on the smallest dose to be safe unless Rocky decides to drop down within next few days, I might think about stopping all together. See what happens.
;)

I'm back on Wednesday night.
Now I have another problem: my dog started shaking his head this morning and when I checked his ears one of them is red so there is something going on.
I don't know whether he caught some infection from a spaniel with ear problems he was playing with in recent days or he got infection because my DH took him for a swim in the river.
There is always something to deal with, you can't rest for a minute!
Sorry about my rant but I'm in a terrible mood today - not happy!
I hope you are in a better frame of mind than me.
:arghh:

Oh Marlena, I totally understand that... They are just like children right, always have to take care of them. Hopefully it will be over soon....:(
