Rocky's first injection

Well I called my vet this morning to request a change in his insulin to the Lantus but his answering machine was on so I decided to give him the Novolin today. I didn't want to put it off in fear his BG is high. I'm still shaking and a tear or 2 but it wasn't as bad as I built it up in head to be. I have ordered all of my testing supplies and will begin testing as soon as they arrive. Luckily I work mostly from home and can keep an eye on him. I am going to keep trying the vet for the Lantus! Thank you community for the tremendous support in this scary ordeal it's been beyond helpful!

Well testing might not be AS easy but humming or singing will help.

I think going forward was a good idea. You can always switch once you do get the Lantus. Then again I'm no expert.

Did you give a good meal 1 hour before the shot?
It is important with Novolin that the cat has some digested food in its tummy as Novolin hits hard and fast.
You can also give a snack at +2 and +4 each cycle.
I’m glad you are pushing for Lantus.......it’s a far better insulin.

Thank you ! Yes I fed him an hour before and in between I was home with him all day and he handled it well from what I could tell.
