After yesterday's celebrations of Rocky's OTJ we have a problem this morning:
Rocky's BG is 11.3 and he is not feeling very well, he is very quiet.
I promise you I haven't given him any champagne or cake to celebrate last night.
As far as I know he spent a lot of time outside last night so I don't know what he was up to.
I'm so frustrated to say the least.
I'm just hoping that test results will shed some light and we can treat him for what I think is UTI and it will bring his numbers down.

(((((Marlena))))) try not to be too disappointed... as you say, you don't know what Rocky might have got into last night and he might be showing the effects of a UTI or similar.
Hang in there Marlena, you've done the most amazing job this far with Rocky and I'm sure you will soon get back on the straight and narrow with him...
Keep us imformed ref the test results.

Hugs
Diana x

Oh, Marlena... I know this must be so frustrating, especially after just celebrating Rocky's OTJ status, but it is probably just a little blip.
When do you get the test results?

Sending healing vibes to Rocky, and a big hug to you....
Chin up, sweetie. :bighug:

Oh no! :( maybe he got some kibble when he was out last night? Like Diana & Tom said. Hoping it's just a blip. xx

I have to wait for test results, I think it takes about 3 days so maybe tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure it is UTI because his behaviour would point in this direction and he had the same problem few weeks ago but the vet did not do a urinalysis and just treated him with antibiotics saying this might be a one of and it is good to hit it on the head straight away.

Marlena

Sorry to hear that Rocky's numbers are up today. If he does have a UTI that could certainly cause the higher numbers. Hopefully you will get the results back soon and find the right antibiotic to clear it up once and for all.

Sending prayers and healing vines that this is just a small bump in the road and Rocky gets back on track in no time! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

An update:
Phone the vet's and I was told that Rocky's urine tests came back: everything is very good, no UTI or bacterial infection!
So poor thing had gone through many tests because he had symptoms of UTI and none of the tests confirm any problem. He had urinalysis and culture, scans and blood tests and there is no problem.
I feel like a neurotic mum but the fact is he is not right, even fact that his BG is too high should tell us something but, of course this in itself could mean many things like stress. His glucose is going down since this morning so it looks like his pancreas is working.
Another thing is his arthritis and he was limping today (the problem is always his right leg) but that does not correlate with his urinary problems he had on Friday and Saturday.
I'm at loss what to think as I don't want to try to find problems when there is none.
Started giving Rocky green lipped mussle extract (natural source of glucosamine).

Marlena, it is worrying I know but as you say the slightly elevated BG could be due to a number of things - there is still the possibility that Rocky got into some other food last night, and it has been very hot here again today so that might make him feel slightly off. It's good news that the tests have come back negative so this may be the only conclusion you can draw - the weather. Sorry that my only suggestion is the "obvious" but it is one possibility.

I think this hot spell is due to break over the weekend so see how he does when it's cooler.

The glucosamine should help and there are other supplements I think that you could considee - Cosequin perhaps? You're the expert in that field so I won't try to persuade you!

Hoping Rocky feels better very soon.
Hugs

@Diana&Tom
Hello my darling, thank you.
How would you then explain his behaviour on Friday and Saturday: he did a wee and then spent about an hour in the garden trying to do something, squatting and moving to another spot, quite distressed! Licking his bits under the tail is the most activity I see in Rocky. I know, some people here said that their cats do it sometimes - SOMETIMES is the word here not most of the time! On Friday night I had to ring out of hours vet as I was watching Rocky in serious distress and I thought he was constipated.
The matter is more complicated due to the fact that Rocky doesn't use litter try, only goes to the toilet outside so I can't be sure if his toileting business is good or not. If you can observe what your cat does in a litter tray you have the basics covered. I don't have that information. So now I really don't know what to think, I start doubting myself and thinking that I imagine things and look for problems! Not a good feeling I can tell you. If you are faced with such a situation (Rocky's symptoms and good tests results) would you just stop thinking about it and accept there is no problem? I'm seeing the vet tomorrow, see what she thinks. I think she would say it is idiopathic UTI (so no bacteria).
Yes, I'm going to start treating him for arthritis but I have to be so careful to introduce new supplement as some can raise BG (glucosamine). That's why I hesitate about Cosequin.
I'm sorry I haven't spoken with you (and other lovely girls) as I'm chasing my tail at the moment but I will make some time to talk to you in private when I have a little bit more time.
I hope you're well and enjoying summer and making most of it!
Sending my love to you.
PS. I have a very busy BH weekend ahead of me.

Sorry I must have missed that info earlier, Marlena...maybe the vet can give you some ideas tomorrow. Could be idiopathic, yes. Hmmm. Try not to over -think it all...yes I know that's easier said than done...maybe all you can do is wait and see if you notice anything else that might give a clue.
Sorry to be hopeless! Relax if you can and enjoy the weekend... We can catch up afterwards.
Hugs
Diana
