Thanks Carl for asking and I'm sorry I haven't checked in - all is OK - this is what I feared - this time of year I basically work 8:30 to about 7/8pm and often that involves attending events and I'm at work related things on the weekends - it's just insane for me and I don't have the time to devote to everything like I wish I did. I have been keeping track of his numbers but only testing about 5 times a day - amps/mid-day/late day/pmps/before bed.
The SS is only updated up to Saturday day time - I will get that taken care of and add the last few days. He's not getting great numbers amps and pmps - and since I don't have any way of checking throughout the day it's frustrating. We didn't make the Vets because my husband got a big job and it was too complicated. Now I can't do this weekend because they are already booked up and the following weekend is July 4th weekend which around here is like ... well, Mardi Gras and Christmas all wrapped up into one in terms of stuff going on, traffic etc.
He's drinking a lot of water still but generally seems OK - not as lethargic, eyes are pretty bright, he's very clingy with me and VERY loud and demanding about food. We are still having some constipation issues - moved him over to miralax and haven't had outstanding results so now have him on that AND the lactulose. Found the Feline Mega Colon forum on yahoo ( I guess there is a forum for everything) but it's very hard to follow - did get some good input there.
I just have NO idea what to do in terms of his numbers. 5.00 seems too high as I feel like he gets all bouncy and 4.5 just ain't making me stand up and salute. I am sort of dreading what the vet will say which I believe will be a switch of insulin but I can tell you right now I sincerely don't see how I could do that during the summer months. Just learning anything new would be impossible. So I don't know. I'm feeling like he'd do better with 5.00 in the am and 4.5 in the evening so he won't be too low to shoot in the morning - he seems to go higher during the day - don't know if I'm imagining that or what. I have to study the SS but right now it all looks like a mess of pink and yellow to me...
I miss the support of coming on here and asking questions and getting feed back - I just have so little time these days it's hard. Thanks for asking about us and I appreciate any thoughts on this post that anyone feels like giving.

Want to go check on everyone's kitties now and see how they are doing - hope all is well.

Yeah, sometimes life gets in the way of life, I understand that. Treating Bob was kind of hectic at times given that his dance happened during our "busy season", and work was crazy for me the whole time.
5 tests a day? That's plenty. No, it isn't curves, but it's more than probably half the people board-wide manage to do, so keep on doing what you can.

I think that the two different doses idea is a good thing to try. The other way to do that is to shoot a long and short cycle, but changing the doses is probably less chaotic with your schedule. Lisa shoots 11/13, and Angela shoots 10/14, due to the differences they have seen in the AM and PM cycles with Cass and Henry.

I think it's worth a try to shoot 5.0 and 4.5 with Robbie though.

Thanks Carl - gonna get his SS up to date and look at the recent numbers and this weekend try and get some mid day numbers and if it seems like the way to go I'll start that on Monday.
I JUST figured out that my meter saves all the numbers (scary it took me this long considering I've been diabetic for 3 years) So I've been just testing than I sit down and write down all his info in one sitting and put it on his SS - well, that worked great until I started feeling a bit odd and decided I really had been neglecting my own diabetes for too long (using the strips for Robbie to save $$ and not testing myself) so I started testing myself again 2x a day and sure enough - I'm really, really LOW - so I am going to the MD about possibly lowering my dose of meds (I take pills, not insulin) my last A1C test showed me as a diet and med controlled diabetic - in other words my numbers were in normal range. I know for a fact it's not diet controlled cause I've been a pretty BAD girl for the past few months but it seems that my body has decided it's gonna produce that insulin on it's own. So NOW I sit down to do Robbie's SS and I'm looking at all these numbers under 100 thinking "huh? oh, that's me" LOL just crazy making.
Thanks again for the help and for remembering we were still out here even if we weren't bothering every one with HELP ON NUMBERS PLEASE....

Ellen,

I just wanted you to know i think you are doing a GREAT job with Robbie! I know all too well how difficult is is to manage with such a hectic schedule. But, you are doing the best you know how to do and Robbie doesn't know any different except that you LOVE him! GOOD JOB! Keep it up!

"it all looks like a mess of pink and yellow to me... :

I know that's not what you want to see, but don't despair. We saw a "mess of pinks and reds" for months. Yesterday we saw a string of yellows and a blue! A BLUE!!! As Libby said, "Patience, Grasshopper!" (yeah, yeah, whatever, right?!). But seriously... you're doing the best you can for him, in spite of LIFE happening all around you and limiting your time... and he's hanging in there. That is success too!

You hang in there too!

thanks everyone - today kind of shot me thru the roof (see other post) but we'll be OK - the vet seems to feel his eyes and his coat and all that seem much better so... now to beat this consitpation thing.
