the most stressed out day for him, he must have been feeling HORRIBLE and I get 188 at amps +8 and 317 at pmps YESTERDAY but today - feeling better and all I get 155 at +5 and 449 at +11 - I DID shoot 4 yesterday and more like 4.5 today (taking it a bit easier cause he wasn't eating so well yesterday) but I seriously thought all the stress he was under would have given us higher numbers - I don't know maybe he likes all the attention LOL.
He did get sub q fluids Sunday night... wonder if that had an effect?
 
I was always told the subQs dropped the kitty's numbers. I may have seen a small drop, but never anything too significant.

Hopefully, now that things are moving naturally for him, Robbie will continue to give you good numbers!

The fluids can lower BGs, IF the fluids relieve pain or another symptom that is causing the higher numbers. They can also affect the absorption rate of the insulin if a cat is dehydrated.
Sometimes there is no answer to "why", unfortunately. Just cuz...

Fluids "almost" always lowered Kitty's BGs. The impact was not seen "normally" the cycle that I gave the fluids, but instead the cycle after I gave them. The fluids can dillute the blood, which makes the glucose level less. I also saw the effect with things like red blood cells. When Kitty was dealing with anemia and I gave fluids, it would make her bloodwork appear she was more anemic--- as the red blood count would be less, due to the amount of "water" in the blood.

Carl, is right also, with proper or better hydration, the insulin can be absorbed better also!

Ok well, he was dehydrated - I didn't realize that even though he's drinking so much (from the diabetes) that he's also peeing it out pretty quickly so it's not hydrating him as well as it should.
