I let Riley go outside for a little bit the other day and then I decided to check his blood sugar and it was 167 which is unusual because it's been ranging from 8o to 100. He hasn't had insulin in months because I've kept it under control with a great diet.
Then it came back down to the 120's. I did not know why It had gone up in the firstplace.
Then I let him go outside again just for a little bit and he came back in and I checked it again and it was 198. So I think that he's getting into some other food somewhere in the neighborhood that he shouldn't be eating.
I still have the Prozinc in my refrigerator but I don't want to give insulin unless I absolutely have to, I'm wondering what I should do. I know don't shoot under 200 so I dont wanna take any chances.
My main concern is how long does it take for something like that to go away after they eat something that's high in carbs,is it two days? 2 hours? Because it's been high all day and he hasn't eaten anything But soft food because I won't let him go outside anymore.
