Hello Everyone,
Happy Thanksgiving!
Last night in the wee hours we got a phone call. My FIL (82 yrs old) is in ICU.... after all night and today, it seems he has numerous bacterial infections and he has improved some but he is very weak. He is a kdney transplantee ( over 25 years with his donated kidney) and his bloodpressure was 40 last night, they got it up to 90 today. liver isn't fuctioning well, nor kidney, has a undetermined mass on his pancreas but he is in good spirits and talking. They have him on many drugs trying to counter it but he is very very compromised. DH spent the day with him in VA hospital in Albuquerque and will return if he declines tomorrow or friday.

Today I also got news on DD. All her bloodwork shows normal. No gluten sensitivities, or dairy or whatever else they tested for.
She's been feeling better overall , less achy in her wrists/hands, less stomach pains but still has some discomfort some of the time.
My theory is still that the oxycodone overdose (wisdom teeth removal recovery) did damage and her body is slowly healing. It may be what flattened the villi in the upper intestine that made them think it might be gluten sensitvity. Since we don't go back to the GI doctor until
January, I guess we'll see if she feels better or worse as we go.

And Shadow is still splashing happily at the falls. Still with her numbers around 100, but that seems to be her happy numbers.

Hello Rhiannon. I'm so sorry that your FIL is hospitalized. It does sound like he is having some improvement. We will definitely keep him in our prayers.

I'm glad that your DD is doing better and has less pain. It was good her BW was normal also. She will be in our prayers as well.

I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Sending healing energy to DFIL and to DD for both to heal and feel better. I'm glad Shaddow is doing so well at the falls. :-D

It's wonderful about DD results. I'll bet you are correct about her body healing itself.

Dear Rhiannon - I am so sorry to hear about your FIL and am sending my prayers for you and your family. And hopes that DD continues to heal. She is feeling better, and since nothing else was detected definitively, hopefully all that is needed is time and taking care of herself. At least Shadow is doing very well and splashing around - I miss you and him, but so happy you've passed that wonderful OTJ milestone.

Good morning, Rhiannon. I am so sorry to hear about your FIL. I will send healing vines his way. So sad to be stuck in the hospital on a holiday, but if that is where he needs to be, then he couldn't me in a better place. Praying that he recovers soon and is on his feet quickly.

I hope you dd heals quickly also. Lots of things going on in your life, huh. Hopefully things will settle down soon!

And Shadow!! Yea!! Glad that he is still splashing!!

Glad the report on DD is so much better, I'm sure you are right in your assumption on what caused all of this, but so glad she is feeling better.

I am so sorry to hear about your DFIL, sending prayers your way for all of your family. Glad to hear that Shadow is still doing great and enjoying 'splashing in the falls'.

Sending prayers for your DFIL and DD. I hope the doctors can help your DFIL get better. I'm glad your DD's bloodwork was good. Hopefully her body will heal itself. Sometimes it just takes time. It's great to hear Shadow is still doing well. I hope you can have a good Thanksgiving under the circumstances.

Hi Rhiannon, Happy Thankgiving to you too! Sorry your DFIL is ill, sending healing vines for him. Glad your DD tests did not show any of the things we were worried about, hope she continues to get better on her own. Glad Shadow is still enjoying her happy 100s at the falls :mrgreen:

well, Maybe, just maybe we'll have Thanksgiving tomorrow.
I wound up going to Albuquerque with DH and we sat in the hospital all afternoon. DH and I had a Whataburger lunch.
DD and DS stayed home with the droolers and kitties.
Grampa had too much fluid on his upperbody and had to be on a dialysis machine all day. The drs/nurses were very worried that his
blood pressure would bottom out dangerously once he was hooked up to that machine. They gave him medicine to thicken up his blood
during the morning and then hooked him up just as we got there.
His blood pressure did stay in the 95/60 range. He was very hard to understand and he seems to forget where he is occasionally.
They did an ultrasound on him ( portable) but they haven't figured out what's going on. He has a infection in his blood and they are giving
him constant antibiotics because they need him stable and higher blood pressure to do any invasive procedures. They can't do a MRI or
contrast scan... he has a pacemaker and his one kidney (the contrast would finish off his kidney) He can't handle anesthesia while his bp
is so low.
So he didn't decline further today, maybe just a slight improvement because they were starting to reduce some of the medicines that are
keeping his bp up as high as it is. They will evaluate tomorrow as to whether or not to do dialysis again. They need to conquer the infection.

We grabbed some cardboard pizzas from the store and came home.
So maybe Thanksgiving meal tomorrow.... we'll see. (honeybaked ham waits until we can be home)

DD said Shadow laid on her heating pad all day, all toasty and happy.
 
Sorry about FIL. Hope he's not feeling any pain & get better soon.
Glad that Shadow's been good at home. Dont worry too much Rhiannon, the doc & nurses will do whatever to help your FIL. Take a rest & enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner with your family.
 
Sending many healing vines to your FIL. Thanksgiving dinner is where ever your family is and needs to be, whether it's burgers and pizza or ham. I hope he gets well enough over night for you to have a dinner with your kids.

Give Shadow some scritches from me.
