I kind of wrote this as i would speak it.....

I haven't been here in a long time... i want to thank you all for all of the valuable information. I feel like i became an expert on Feline Diabetes because of everyone here.

Sadly, Tony began suffering from vestibular disorder in the past few days, he stopped eating, and with FD and some other complications went down hill so fast. he was about 14 years old.

He was a rescue and we were so lucky to have him in our lives for 11 of his 14 years.

Tony was diagnosed on May 30th 2011 with FD. It was tough because my now wife and I are in our mid and late 20's, were getting married in July and knew nothing aoubt FD... our friends thought that what we were about to embark on was insane! i found this site and thought that if you all could manage it, so could we... so we did. I studied for days and days while Tony was at the vet.

Tony was good for the past year and a half.. living it up, good blood numbers! before the arrival of our son 5 weeks ago, Tony was by my wife's side for the few days leading up to his birth. He literally helped us transition from mid 20 somethings with no responsibility to being parents.

He stuck around for the first 5 weeks and knew he had taught us everything he could. His work here is done. He will always be remembered.

He was a mane-coon, 20 LBS at one point and almost 3.5 feet long from nost to tip of his tail... we'd walk him on a leash and get funny looks... he would come when we called etc. haha so funny

Tonight our house is a bit more empty, and our hearts are heavy... but we can't help but smile at many of his past antics. It was the first time my wife or I had to go through any of this with an animal, we held him as he fell asleep... we owed it to him. we thanked him for everything

Rest in Peace Tony=Balony... we love you so much buddy!!

And thanks to FDMB too!!

I am so sorry to hear this. I remember you and Tony and how determined you were to help him. It is wonderful that you can smile remembering his antics. You gave him a life filled with love, good food and caring - all any cat could ask for.

So sorry to hear of your loss. But it sounds like your Tony did his job. It is amazing what these sweet creatures can teach us about life. Please accept my condolences and my congratulations on the birth of your son. One door closes and another one opens. ((((hugs to you all))))

I haven't known you or Tony, but your beautiful, heartfelt eulogy did cause me to shed a couple of tears just now.

It is especially hard when we've grown up with our animals, and have learnt so much from them.

John Galsworthy's words come to mind:

"Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives."

What a profoundly moving eulogy...

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure Tony will remain in your heart always. One day you will be able to show a picture of him to your new son, and tell him stories about your old dear friend; the friend who waited for your son to arrive before he himself left to go on another journey.

All good wishes to you,

Elizabeth in UK

What a beautiful tribute. You are truly lucky to have found each other and now Tony has earned his wings. Something tells me his work here is not done, that you have learnd and can now, put into practice all the loving things Tony taught.
My sincere condolences as well as my congratulations to the addition of the new member to your enlightened family, God bless,
jeanne

So sorry to hear this. May you always remember the joy you shared. I'm sure he knew he was greatly loved.

Tony sounded like a true treasure. I love the idea that he taught you so many things in his years with you. I wish you the best in raising your newborn, and hope that some day, you'll again make a loving home for another fortunate cat who will also have amazing things to show you and your little boy...
