I kind of wrote this as i would speak it.....
I haven't been here in a long time... i want to thank you all for all of the valuable information. I feel like i became an expert on Feline Diabetes because of everyone here.
Sadly, Tony began suffering from vestibular disorder in the past few days, he stopped eating, and with FD and some other complications went down hill so fast. he was about 14 years old.
He was a rescue and we were so lucky to have him in our lives for 11 of his 14 years.
Tony was diagnosed on May 30th 2011 with FD. It was tough because my now wife and I are in our mid and late 20's, were getting married in July and knew nothing aoubt FD... our friends thought that what we were about to embark on was insane! i found this site and thought that if you all could manage it, so could we... so we did. I studied for days and days while Tony was at the vet.
Tony was good for the past year and a half.. living it up, good blood numbers! before the arrival of our son 5 weeks ago, Tony was by my wife's side for the few days leading up to his birth. He literally helped us transition from mid 20 somethings with no responsibility to being parents.
He stuck around for the first 5 weeks and knew he had taught us everything he could. His work here is done. He will always be remembered.
He was a mane-coon, 20 LBS at one point and almost 3.5 feet long from nost to tip of his tail... we'd walk him on a leash and get funny looks... he would come when we called etc. haha so funny
Tonight our house is a bit more empty, and our hearts are heavy... but we can't help but smile at many of his past antics. It was the first time my wife or I had to go through any of this with an animal, we held him as he fell asleep... we owed it to him. we thanked him for everything
Rest in Peace Tony=Balony... we love you so much buddy!!
And thanks to FDMB too!!
