Early this morning, at 2:10am, our sugar kitty, Tigger, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge
He had been doing well, but for the last couple of weeks, refused to eat much of anything, even his most favorite foods. He was losing weight, and had increasing neuropathy. We could have treated him, but Tigger has always hated the vet/vet visits, so we chose to let him go peacefully, rather than subject him to the thing he hated most. We feel he would have continued to fight, just because he was a scrappy old man at 15 years old, but his quality of life would have suffered greatly. We don't feel that his diabetes was what caused him to be ill, but possibly a secondary illness that was undiagnosed and causing him to not feel well enough to eat and thrive.
It has been a long, but short, journey into the world of Feline Diabetes. I dare say that if it wasn't for all of you, all the advice given on here, the spreadsheet, and just the love, care, and concern shown here, Tigger would not have done as well as he did, for as long as he did. I am content in that I feel like we did the best we could for him, and for a while, his quality of life was very good. Now, he is pain-free, diabetes-free, and probably eating every piece of crunchy, carb-loaded cat food he can get his paws on! =)
Thank you to everyone who has given us advice, and offered support and care. We appreciate you all!
