Let me start by saying I am completely ignorant on this subject and hope my questions make sense.
Our first cat, Smokey, used to sneeze. My mother-in-law said cats aren't supposed to sneeze unless they're sick. We lost him to feline leukemia that he was born with.
Well, sometimes Hershey (diabetic) sneezes. I can't relate to just times when he has his nose where it doesn't belong.
And, Oreo (non-diabetic) sneezes off and on - some days more than others. I'd attribute his to him being underfoot while Doug is renovating (We keep him out as much as possible.), but he was doing it before that, but he does have his nose anywhere he can - the dustier the better!
(Maybe unrelated) I've been having trouble getting him to eat. He'll woof down the food, then the next meal or two snubb it. I've tried elevating his bowl and most of the have to start off spoon feeding him. But, the very next meal he may INHALE it! (That's what it sounds like!!) We've switched his food from Wellness to Friskies pate and even mix up the flavors (sometimes combining them) and just when we think we're past the issue - BAM! it's back...
And, now, sometimes he makes a sound - I wouldn't call it a cough (but I've never heard a cat cough, so what do I know?) - it happens most often after he eats. It sounds like a cross between a hairball and a wheeze. Sometimes something will come up, sometimes not. Jessica said she thinks he has reflux, but I don't know what it is. I do know that Thursday night, it was scary feeling so helpless when he did it.
Any idea what's going on? I know living together that if one of them catches something, there's a good chance the other one will. I thought about taking them to the vet, but it doesn't sound like I'm giving her much to go on. Any ideas on what might be going on or what I should be looking out for?
Thanks for letting me pick your brain!!
