I’m late to make this post, as I have been a member on this message board but not very active. Last year, my cat was diagnosed as diabetic unexpectedly as we initially brought him in because he was getting skinny and had no idea diabetes was even a possibility.
After months of going to the vet every 2 weeks I was frustrated and sad that I felt like we hadn’t made much progress. Which is when I turned to the internet for opinions and found this message board. When I first posted, I got so many comments of support and advice, people checking my thread as I got BG readings to give me guidance. The people here gave me the confidence and encouragement to start doing home tests instead of relying on the readings from vet visits and advice on how to give him insulin according to his readings. Advice on what’s best to feed him and what to do if his BG was low and so much vital information.
After going over our home records and more tests at the vet, my Leo is officially considered to be in remission! Of course we still keep an eye on him, still test him from time to time, but all signs is he’s back to normal. Including his neuropathy which was so bad at a point he could only take a few steps before needing to rest. Now he’s back into getting into and jumping on everything lol.
As I said I haven’t been been very active on this board but There is no doubt the existence of this website was vital to us getting here. It was the knowledge I gained here and knowing there was a community to learn from and lean on that got us to this point. So I just want to thank everyone that keeps this message board alive for the fact that I have my healthy and happy boy back. Finding this website was absolutely the turning point in our journey.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know what I would do without Leo and thank you for existing to help make a difference in our lives. I’m forever grateful!!!
