Hi all,
Happy weekend! I'm about to switch to a Relion Confirm meter from an Advocate Pet test meter because of the cost of the strips. I notice the meter doesn't come with control solution. Can I just use the solution that came with the Advocate meter? If not which one should I be getting?
Thanks!

I think you can call company's number on the meter package to ask about getting control solution.

Well who's bright idea was it to not provide control solution with a meter?!?! Some people's kids!! Anywhoo, I cannot say with absolute certainty, but as a lab tech, I would say that you cannot use one brand's control on another brand's meter. I wouldn't be able to trust the results. You may be able to get by if you had another Relion control solution, but I would not attempt using the Advocate control. It sucks that you have to deal with Relion's stupidity. It just makes everything more.. interesting to say the least, haha. :p

Ugh! I was trying to do some quick research for other options, because apparently you can buy the control solution at Walmart for almost the price of the meter. I keep seeing links to a free control, but they are all dead ends. I'm frustrated because I recently bought control solution for my Bayer Contour Next meter at www.diabetessupplies4less.com for only $0.94 each. It seems like highway robbery that you have to pay so much for one. :(

Thanks for looking into it. There isn't really a "Relion" solution that I can see on Walmart.com.

Oh my gosh you're right! I could have sworn there was one, but now I only see a control for the OneTouch Ultra. Well then, sorry about that.

ETA: Yeah it looks like calling is the only way to get it. What a pain.

They don't provide one because they are "non-code meters"

Not that that should matter....if you want to test your meter, you should be able to without so much grief!!
