Relion prime meter not working

Hi everyone,

I purchased a relion prime meter from walmart. I tried testing it on myself three times. Everytime after touching the strip to the blood it turned off and never gave a reading. The screen goes blank and doesn't do anything. It's like it has been shut off.

I am really upset because the pharmacest said it is non returnable. I already bought 100 strips for it. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Ok so I tried it on my mother and it worked on her. But whenever I use it on myself it turns off. How wierd! I will try it tomorrow on Pudden I hope it works on her!

We've heard some of the Prime meters can be a little "temperamental" and some people get a lot of error messages with them....others seem to have good luck with them

You may want to call the Relion company and tell them you're having trouble...they may be willing to send you a free meter as good customer relations
 
Ok. If it doesn't work tomorrow I will give them a call. Hopefully it just doesn't like my blood and will be fine for Pudden!

I use the Relion Prime and the only time I have the screen go blank is if I take to long to get the blood sample. Whenever I have gotten an error message, it was either because I didn't get enough blood on the strip or I got too much ( like a big glob of it ) on the strip. I hope this helps. When you can the company tell them you also want them to send you some testing solution and they will send it free. You will want to follow the instructions in the manual of how to use the solution and test a strip to see if every thing is functioning okay.

Mine has done that a few times too. In fact it did it this AM, I put the strip in, it flashed then showed the signal it was ready for blood, then turned off. I pulled out the strip and reinserted it and proceeded with the test. Maybe I'll call Relion myself...

I always have to get the blood up first then put strip in relion prime meter cause it don't give me enough time sometimes to get the blood ready.
 
Contact Relion. I have had issues with their meters in the past, mainly due to the cat knocking it off of the counter, and they have always replaced them.

Their customer service group is very good. Here is their phone number 1-855-776-0662. However, when you talk to them, tell them you are using the meter and do not tell them it is for your cat.

That's what I do, too. My former vet clued me in to that method for the Alphatrak, but it works fine with my Relion, as well.
 
You can snag the droplet on a clean fingernail, then push the strip the rest of the way in to test with the ReliOn Confirm or Micro too.
 
I push it half way in too to start. When I've had it turn itself off it's been within a sec or so. I think I don't push it in quite far enough for it to make good contact. If I pull the strip out and push it back in, it's fine.

You can do that without too?might start trying that cause I always have to get the blood up and keep hold of miss kitty's ear while trying to push strip in rest of way so she don't shake her head and throw blood everywhere lol
 
Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the replies! So far the meter has worked with no problems on Pudden. Perhaps it was just a glitch that has resolved itself, but if it happens again I will be sure to call relion!
