My vet just told me the human meter are over 100 points off when using cats blood. And I can't afford the strips for the alphatrak. So I know a lot of people use human meters. Just wondering what are y'all thoughts on this.
Thank you!

The ReliOn premiere classic is perfectly fine to use. A lot of people here use it. It is a human meter and reads lower than the alphatrak meter, but that doesn’t mean it is not safe to use. Until the advent of the pet meter, all vets used the human meters.
In higher BG numbers the difference in the pet and human meter is greater then when the BGs are lower, when the numbers are much closer.
I much prefer the human meters.and the test strips are much much cheaper. I always recommend the ReliOn meters as they are reliable and cheap to use.
Our dosing methods are based on the human meters.
Don’t be put off by what your vet says.

The only thing is I can't get more then 2 reading a day. I need more hands he's a very spicy kitty lol. And I have to wrap him up in a blanket to test and I have to have my hubby there to help. I'm worried about the numbers I'm get from the relion meter. I'm getting lower numbers for relion meter then the freestyle sensor. So we are worried about giving him full dose sometimes.

Some users have found the premiere classic to large to use. Thee is the premiere mini which is smaller but the display shows less. There is also the Blu (downloads data to phone via bluetooth) and Talking premiere models. All use the same strips.
