Since they discontinued the perfectly fine ReliOn Confirm meter anyone out there that is going to have to purchase a meter should NOT buy the ReliOn Prime. You can buy the ReliOn premium or the premium blue and those both work okay but the ReliOn Prime that sells for $9.95 is not a good meter and it takes such a large amount of blood. I'm just giving everybody a heads up.

The Premium takes the same sample size as the Prime.

Also the Premium seems to consider "normal" higher than the Prime.

I do know I've seen others have problems with the Prime giving a lot of error messages though.

WHY did they D/C the Confirm? It was such a great little meter!!

there are still vendors around who offer the ReliOn Confirm/Micro or the original Arkray Glucocard01 -- on the internet (for a price) -- and the strips are still available from Walmart online -- quick Google search showed at least three selling the Arkray (the original mfg) and several of the Relions on eBay

You get error codes if you don't have enough blood sample. E13, IIRC? I've been using this meter with no problems. I have not done two tests at the same time, but I will try doing this to see how repeatable the numbers are. I have not seen a meter that is accurate; blood tests at the vet are required to get more accurate numbers. I think 10-15% variance is expected.

My personal goal was to use a meter that people here have experience with, and to not break the bank; I'm not sure how numbers would compare from brand to brand.

ReliOn Confirm error code for not enough blood is E-7 .. I get too many of those but it's technique (mine) and Catcat's tendency to toss his head and shy; not the meter really
