I am using a Relion Confirm. I just checked Colby's BG at 11 and it read "Lo", I rechecked and it was at 197 and then 156. This was all w/in 5 minutes. I kind of freaked out a little b/c Colby has never gone that low and gave him a little gravy. 20 minutes later his BG was 266. Do you think that "Lo" reading was a fluke?

Does anyone know how low the Relion goes... like what number it has to be at to read "Lo"? I have ransacked my house looking for my other meter, but I have been so disorganized since Colby has been sick, I have no idea where I have put it.

The Lo reading can sometimes be the same as the E-7 when you didn't get quite enough blood for a reading. I know because I got it myself once and panicked until I looked it up in the instructions! Lo I believe is a reading under 20 if it's a genuine reading not a lack of blood.

Thanks, yeah, probably lack of blood... I was too shocked to look at the instructions :woot: He was acting fine, so I really shouldn't have panicked. Since I've been tracking his numbers on the SS, he's never been lower than 180. Whatever.... I'm going to try to get some regular low carb food in him and call it a night. Here I thought I was going to be able to get to bed early! Where did I put that other meter??

When in doubt, re-test. Best 2 out of 3 is probably your answer.
Also, see my signature link Glucometer Notes for some info on how accurate the meters aren't.
(Hint: they aren't lab equipment)

It didn't help that I was just reading someone else's post about their cat going low.... I think it's safe to say he's fine. Is this ever going to get easier?

As long as he's OK that's all that matters - when in doubt, re-test and ask. I'm too new at this myself to know if it gets much easier or not.
