I know that we are supposed to withhold food for two hours before testing (I'm using Lantus), but what, exactly, is the relationship between feeding and testing. I was advised to make sure to feed my boy a LC snack two hours before his test in the a.m., and this lowered his AM bg. I'm just unclear on when I should make sure my boy is eating to keep his bg at normal levels.

You don't want to feed in the 2 hours prior to a shot so the pre-test blood glucose reading isn't influenced by food. If you are going to give a snack prior to shot time it should be at around +8 or +9.
